Whenever my son (age 6) has a stomach ache I completely go to pieces and worry it might be appendicitis and that it won't be operated on quickly enough. My DH says it's ridiculous and it's just my anxiety, and that it that was the case it will be operated on quickly and that it's completely routine. Any healthcare professionals on here that can reassure me by any chance??

I think any healthcare professional will be suggesting you seek professional help for what is clearly a spiralling health anxiety and fixation with appendicitis

As someone who has health anxiety that sometimes manifests in relation to my children, gently you are being unreasonable to worry that much.

FWIW we have twice been to A&E with DD with stimach pains (think severe enough to make her vomit) and neither was appendicitis. (One was an impaction, the other was post-viral inflammation of the lymph nodes in the abdomen that resolved by itself.) I have no worries that if it was appendicitis, she would have been in theatre asap.
