I have taken annual leave for the day.
My husband and kids don’t know, I know it might sound wrong but I need a break.
To put it mildly, it’s been the worst year of my life.
Anyway, I’ve booked a massage for the morning. I’ll probably go to the beach for a bit and find somewhere nice for lunch. what else shall I do?
Im so looking forward to it. Can’t do anything at home as husband and both teens will be there.
Thanks for any ideas
I’ll be in Shoreham area if anyone has any wise ideas for there or nearby but just anything really

I had a lovely day! Shopped for new bras first thing (only had one that fits!)
Then had the most amazing massage
Then had lovely lunch and read my book with a pot of tea
Then lay on the beach, more reading my book and a swim in the sea.
Back to cafe for another pot of tea and cake (wouldn’t have done this but there were a few suggestions for it and it was lovely

I’m ready for anything now!

It was so nice

Thanks to the people who said not to try and do too much

I really just lazed around reading a book (haven’t managed to read a book in two years and I’m a third of the way through this!)

Secret days off are amazing

This sounds like a lovely day to me.

I'm glad you had a great day. I have though of some more tips to keep you going through the winter if you decide you need another:

Look at the area around you and find out where you can sit and read that's not cafes where you are taking a table or having to spend a lot of money on constant refills. It's not sustainable. Some libraries have reading areas or corners, Shopping malls with massive food courts have less expectation to sit and not spend but are noisy and food smells can be annoying. There are some other seating areas in malls but I also find these are few enough that I worry about taking rest areas away from those who need them. Leisure Centres have viewing areas and often no expectation to pay to use. Noise can be a factor here too.

Consider tourist attractions - how often are you a tourist in your own locality? I love walking tours and open top bus tours (the buses are great for all weathers).

I do spend a great deal of time having to amuse myself as I work away from home for weeks on end, and often in less travelled areas. It is vital to get out of the workplace on my Saturday afternoons, for sanity. I have become a bit of an expert in finding budget friendly places to go, to relax or to destress that is not revolving around eating and drinking alcohol! I love finding a nice spot to knit or read!
