AIBU to think my partner is wrong to turn the light on and wake me up. I am a very light sleeper so that's me done for the.night.

On the face of it, YANBU, but why is he doing it?

Enko · 16/08/2025 04:00

Use a sleep mask if you get irritated by the light. I turn on when I get up to be able to see. Dh does the same.

Perhaps look into how to learn to be a less light sleeper

Longnightmoon · 16/08/2025 04:26

What is the alternative? Is he turning on the main light, or a little dim bedside light or lantern?

TwinklyNight · 16/08/2025 05:32

It wouldn't wake me, but dh has always laid his clothes out the night before , he is really considerate to others.

DibDob22 · 16/08/2025 18:22

To read stuff on his phone.

I am and always have been incredibly considerate to his sleep. He worked nights for years and I stayed awake until 1-2pm to ensure he actually managed to get up.

He’s a twat. Why doesn’t he get a mini light or a torch? Can you sleep in separate bedrooms?

Bloodyhrt · 16/08/2025 18:26

Why is he turning on the light? Doesn’t his phone have a light?

To read stuff on his phone.

Is his phone not backlit? I don't know why he would need a light on to read it.
