AIBU not to go to the doctors? Possible TMI

Possible TMI - apologies in advance…

Felt a lump/bump of skin in the shower the other day. Anus area/sort of between vagina and anus/start of bum hole 🫠

I was pretty shocked as I’ve never suffered from anything like this, eg never had piles when pregnant. The only thing I can put it down to is the fact that a few days ago I woke up and my pj shorts were completely wedged in my bum to the point it was pretty sore at the time. I think it was because I’d put fake tan on before bed and the shorts must have just gotten stuck up there in the night as I moved!

I don’t strain on the toilet as such, but might no if I’m wanting to weigh myself, etc.

I have no other symptoms, although I was a bit worried the other day about needing to go for a wee frequently. Has anybody found the two things related?

My current plan is to see if it goes away, then try Anusol if not, then do I go to the docs? If it’s a skin tag, they won’t do anything, so really not sure?

anybody had this? Xxx

Position a mirror so you can see it. That should help you identify what it might be - a sore from rubbing, a cyst, wart, spot etc.

Thank you - I’ve tried this. I feel like it’s possibly a lump of skin or a skin tag, maybe? X

Just go. A quick examination by a GP will identify or refer you if necessary. Honestly, a nurse or dr will see hundreds if not thousands of anus’s in their career. They also understand if it’s nothing it’s hard to identify yourself because of where it is! Please, just go.

Could possibly be a wart, if that's the case. You should be able to be seen at sexual health clinic fairly quickly. They'll be the most experienced to advise. They do deal with things other than contraception and STIs.

My GP did a digital exam, referred me to a sigmoidoscopy, which confirmed haemorrhoids and I never worried about it again!

Could be anything - skin tag, wart, piles, whatever. Just go to the doctor.
