Any plumbers on here? I want to buy a dishwasher

I have 3 young DC and I find a lot of my time is taken up with constant washing up and drying up.

I want to buy a dishwasher but have been told that because the kitchen sink is away from where the potential dishwasher would be that it won’t work. This is what OH’s friend who is a handyman has said.

Does anyone had a dishwasher that’s not close to the kitchen sink?

Many thanks in advance

Well, you can have one but you'd have to get all the relevant plumbing installed, so it could be expensive and difficult. Is it anywhere near your washing machine? Or when we were getting a new kitchen installed my plumber temporarily moved the dishwasher and the kitchen sink to near where the downstairs loo was. Maybe the handyman was just saying he couldn't do it as you'd need an actual plumber.

Check the depth of it as well as the height and width. I didn't and have one poking out 3 cm from the counter. The previous one fitted fine but this one is deeper.

A dishwasher needs a water feed and a place to drain into, so the sink is the obvious place. Can you not move a cupboard which is next to the sink and put it there?

Hi
The washing machine is about 3ft away.

I guess I will have to call a plumber.
There is a switch for a dish washer on the electrical switch (I.e fridge, washing machine etc).

This sounds like a relatively easy job then. You just need to extend the incoming water supply from the washing machine and also the drainage pipe for water going out. Unless that 3 feet is occupied by a granite buttress you should be ok.
