IceInYourVibe · 14/08/2025 14:59

So I’ve been so desperate to lose weight - I put my foot down on Thursday 7th and went on a 1000 calorie a day diet

Also did cardio every day (30 mins) and weights every other day

have lost 11 pounds on first week 💪

Good luck to anyone and everyone on a dieting mission - omg it’s so hard !!

And good luck to anyone on any self improvement mission - whatever it is !

Congratulations- fabulous achievement!

Thanks that’s kind of you! It’s the first time I’ve really stuck at it and to get results is so motivating!

Iloveyoubut · 14/08/2025 16:28

That’s amazing! Well done you! My friend had incredible success on the Michael Mosley fast 800 diet and the higher weight loss I the first 3/4 weeks really motivated her! She done it at the start of the lockdowns and whes kept it off! So pleased for you! Good on ya. Everyone freaking about it… it’s not great to be carrying extra weight either so you do what’s working for it! Love it! ❤️💪

BoudiccaRuled · 14/08/2025 16:34

Great work! Do that for another week if you can but then up your calories to 1500 or you'll crash and burn and put the weight back on immediately. It's great for motivation to start with a big loss though!

Oh really?! Which ones? 1000 calories a day is severe restriction and is only advised under strict medical supervision.

Michael Mosley.

TurnmyselfoffshallI · 14/08/2025 16:38

I wish I was this motivated I think I might be doing it wrong as I’m 2 weeks in and have lost nothing ! I’ve just cut out all chocolate biscuits crisps and cake, stopped having sugar in tea and I’ve been doing a 30 min walk each morning and some light weights, my daily calories are now 1600 though perhaps that’s too high ?

It entirely depends how tall you are!

yeah although I did lose weight on 1600 cals back in 2003 personally I’d set it lower now

I lost 4 stone after my husband died, very rapidly, simply because I couldn’t eat without vomiting.

Its not healthy though. 🙄

OP this is an useless thread unless you clearly state how heavy you were at the start of the process.

If you were 50 kgs that's an insane crazy loss. You are taking your own life in your hands.

If you were 180 kgs that's a mediocre weight loss.

The devil is in the details, lovely.

Whatever someone weighs, losing 11lbs in a week is not mediocre! Very snide.

Maybe I need to reduce calories more and up my walk to 1 hour ! I’m impressed how well you’ve done !

11lbs loss in a week is really not mediocre. You’re either wanting to diminish the OP or you have some eating issues. Either way- good luck to you

Scarylett · 14/08/2025 16:54

It will be water - not fat.

SoftPillow · 14/08/2025 16:56

Reignonyourparade · 14/08/2025 16:26

The fact you know this and reference it, surely means you’ve had to do it more than once, ergo: it doesn’t work

Yes, you’re right. I have done this more than once. I’ll give you all the details and you can judge for yourself.

2yrs ago I lost lots of weight through calorie control and exercise, including kick starting with very low calorie.

I then suffered a period of ill health, bereavement and mental health issues.

Some of the weight came back on, but not all of it.

I am now back in a place where I am keen to lose that weight and am back into lower calorie. And the initial kick starting approach has worked well again.

It does work for me, but sometimes inconvenient things like breakdowns, inflections and death get in the way.

Is that clearer for you now?

everardshutthatdoor · 14/08/2025 17:01

Oh dear, some mean and jealous people in this thread. Great stuff OP, well done.

It’s a shame the jealous ones had to make snide remarks and call your hard efforts ‘boasting’ instead of congratulating you.

Well done.

SwingTheMonkey · 14/08/2025 16:19

Yes, under strict medical supervision. Drastic calorie restriction can lead to a number of very serious health conditions and shouldn’t be promoted.

So can obesity.

Isn’t it just! It’s shocking!

Waitingfordoggo · 14/08/2025 17:51

That’s absolutely ridiculous and not something anyone should aim for.

I’m of an age where that sort of drastic weight loss would have me heading straight to the GP.

I’m sorry for your loss. Gently… this isn’t about you. This is someone wanting to share their weight loss and they’re clearly feeling really good about it. There’s times in life where we go through hell and times in life when we pull it back a little. No need to be shit … you don’t know what’s behind the weight that OP is losing.

Why? A lot will be water weight and inflammation plus food that wasn’t digested prior to starting …. Honestly… what a horrible bitter comment.

Bitter? How? I’m saying that it’s an extraordinary amount of weight to lose in a week and would make me worry there was something wrong.

Waitingfordoggo · 14/08/2025 17:58

Re Michael Mosley- I have never seen/read any of his work on it, but wasn’t intermittent fasting his thing? That’s not the same thing as having 1000 kcals every day of the week.
