To have lost 11 pounds in weight this week?

IceInYourVibe · 14/08/2025 14:59

So I’ve been so desperate to lose weight - I put my foot down on Thursday 7th and went on a 1000 calorie a day diet

Also did cardio every day (30 mins) and weights every other day

have lost 11 pounds on first week 💪

Good luck to anyone and everyone on a dieting mission - omg it’s so hard !!

And good luck to anyone on any self improvement mission - whatever it is !

@SwingTheMonkey

Thinking 1000 calories a day alongside cardio is ridiculous and unsustainable isn’t antiquated.

100% agree. ^

@FluffyWabbit

If you say so. Many professionals disagree.

I really doubt that. 🙄

kittensinthekitchen · 14/08/2025 16:07

I lost 11lb in my first week doing slimming world once... continued to lose between 1lb and 4lb a week after that. I wasnt starving myself

It's definitely a boost to continue

Yeah this. 11 pounds weight loss in one week is utterly ludicrous, and no-one should be bragging about it. OR saying 'well done!' Has anyone ever gained eleven pounds in one week? No. Of course not. Ridiculous! 🙄

I gained 10 in a week on an all inclusive cruise 🫣😂

Oh really?! Which ones? 1000 calories a day is severe restriction and is only advised under strict medical supervision.

Me too. All inclusive cruises are perfect for weight gain. Thankfully I don't go one every year and next one will be 2028 and for 2 weeks so will need to weigh nothing before we go 😂😂😂

Michael Mosley and Fast800, New You Plan, Shake that Weight, LighterLife, 1:1 diet etc etc etc etc

The benefits of VLCD and LCD can be found in research papers via PubMed, NIH, NHS (who funds VLCD in certain instances) etc etc

I am not going to comment further to do everyone's homework for them.

The OP doesn't deserve to be beat up because others aren't up to date about calories required when one is overweight/obese.

It’s unlikely to have been entirely true weight gain unless you’d spent all day and night eating. It was almost certainly largely water retention from carbs and alcohol (if you drink).

NeverDropYourMooncup · 14/08/2025 16:17

Best read up on gallstones before you continue this. I hear they aren't fun, so doing something quite so dramatic probably isn't a great idea.

Yes, under strict medical supervision. Drastic calorie restriction can lead to a number of very serious health conditions and shouldn’t be promoted.

Dabralor · 14/08/2025 16:19

Omg that’s amazing! What did you eat every day, if you don’t mind me asking?

well done! 🥳

lotsofpatience · 14/08/2025 16:19

OP this is an useless thread unless you clearly state how heavy you were at the start of the process.

If you were 50 kgs that's an insane crazy loss. You are taking your own life in your hands.

If you were 180 kgs that's a mediocre weight loss.

The devil is in the details, lovely.

Again, if you say so. There is a time to consider that you may not know what you think you know.

YABU. You can lose weight safely and sustainably on more than 1000 calories.

Exactly this. And most people would only lose weight at such a dramatic rate if they had been violently ill, OR they were morbidly obese to begin with (and starved themselves for a week.) It's nothing to brag about - or celebrate! And it certainly should not be normalised!

Well done OP! Whatever the difference time of day makes, it must have felt fabulous to stand on the scales and see such an amazing loss.

Yes it was !! Thank you for your words of support! ❤️

I’m not recommending to everyone as we are all different but I’ve been on 1000 calories a day for 2 months. I’ve never felt better, my diet is good and I’ve lost 1 stone 10 pounds. I think it is definitely possible to be healthy on 1000 cals a day. Especially if you track nutrients etc on an app. I’m sleeping better, more energy and better mood.

Reignonyourparade · 14/08/2025 16:26

SoftPillow · 14/08/2025 15:22

Well done on making positive changes. Of course you know that it’s water weight etc, but it still feels good. I bet you already feel better.

I can lose 5 or 6 in a week if I drop to 800 calories. Obviously this is water weight as above, but it feels fantastic either way and is great to kickstart healthier choices

The fact you know this and reference it, surely means you’ve had to do it more than once, ergo: it doesn’t work
