Or is this sense of humour failure...?

Hi - I'm 13 weeks pregnant, just had my scan and feeling positive about it for the first time. A good friend of mine had a hideous time with her first - traumatic birth, PND, etc, etc. Spoke to her yesterday about scan. All good. Spoke to her today, and she'd just been to an NCT reunion.

She said "if you'd been where I've just been you'd be booking yourself in for a termination".

Am I being unreasonable that I thought this was just a bit much?

Sorry for rant.

yanbu but she was being a little careless with what she said maybe?

myermay · 29/05/2008 17:06

bit of a distaseful thing to say, but maybe she had just had a bad day!

NotABanana · 29/05/2008 17:06

She sounds like a loon for want of a better word.

2shoes · 29/05/2008 17:07

yanbu
what a horrid thing to say

NotABanana · 29/05/2008 17:07

Was she trying to be funny?

Fufulina · 29/05/2008 17:09

Thanks ladies. I think she'd had a bad day, and just wasn't thinking...

have you mentioned it to her about how what she said made you feel?

Elmosgirl · 29/05/2008 17:09

Definately not sense of humour failure, what a strange thing to say

belgo · 29/05/2008 17:10

YANBU - horrible thing to say - but probably just thoughtless and insensitive rather then nasty.

fransmom · 29/05/2008 17:10

glad scan went ok. it's amazing isn't it? seeing those little hearts beating for the first time

NotABanana · 29/05/2008 17:10

Maybe it is secretly what she wishes she had done if she has had a bad time?
