To feel a bit sick when looking at certain celebs?

I have a weird thing where certain people make me feel physically sick/Uneasy. It’s mainly celebrities or people in the public eye.

One example is Jeremy Corbyn. Nothing to do with his politics - it’s something about him.

My latest one is Danny Dyer - especially with a moustache.

Anyone else get this?

Jarvis Cocker
Made me feel ill years ago when I first saw him on TOTP. Then when he opened his mouth and sang "you were the first girl at school to get breasts...I had to work to try to get you undressed.." or something similar, I could have honestly thrown up. I have to turn the radio over if he comes on. May well be a nice person, but I find him revolting, creepy and vomit-inducing.

Mine is James Arthur. I felt really mean about it, I didn’t realise it wasn’t an unusual thing!

PandoraSocks · 14/08/2025 09:31

Wes Streeting gives me the creeps. I really, really don't like him. He has a manic gleam in his eyes.

Farage as pp have said. Stinks of fags, I bet.

Slightyamusedandsilly · 14/08/2025 09:32

Amanda Holden makes me physically recoil. Liz Hurley also.

For blokes, Paul Daniels and Bruce Forsyth used to have this effect on me. Also John Cleese now he's older. AND James Blunt. Urgh.

smugmugg · 14/08/2025 09:32

Women wise, I used to have a very strong aversion to a glamour model called Jo Guest. I just didn't like the look of her at all, she scared me.

Aw, James Blunt is lovely. I don't like his music, but he is very funny.

David Tennant. And there's a guy on Instagram who's videos always pop up on my feed where he talks about how much he loves big women etc, he's Scottish also actually - so am I, it's not some weird anti-Scottish vibe! They both make me feel sick.

Pedro Pascal also, I thought he was amazing as Oberyn in GoT but he's prickled my skin ever since. There are a lot of memes based on him and I so want to like them and laugh at them but it's just something in the pit of my stomach.

JD Vance.

smugmugg · 14/08/2025 09:33

K pop boys are weird, they are look androgynous dolls wearing masks. I don't understand how women find that attractive!

Slightyamusedandsilly · 14/08/2025 09:34

Oh! And Johnny Depp. And I thought he was gorgeous when he was Jack Sparrow. But now? 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮

BigAnne · 14/08/2025 09:34

Keith Lemon. Christopher Biggins.

Ohhhh I love Daniel the Scotsman.

The K Pop thing is like an actual factory just churns out these boys like a conveyor belt, they all look the same, its quite sinister when you think about it.

None of them actually make me feel sick, but there are plenty who have me reaching for the remote control.

Danny Dyer's on that list, along with Walliams and Clarkson, but I have the same reaction to Nick Knowles, Michael Macintyre and Paddy McGuinness, and many more.

Are you me?

Oh yes, Keith Lemon - I could hurl

CarterBeatsTheDevil · 14/08/2025 09:37

Not in the way that you describe. I really dislike it when people have had really obvious plastic surgery done and they've ended up looking like Kryten off Red Dwarf. But that's not really a physical recoil or sense of creepiness. I only feel repelled by celebrities if I already dislike their work or know something horrible about them.

In real life the things I'm most sensitive to are bad smells - breath, pits, and people who are really obviously dirty - and I don't really get close enough to celebrities for that to be an issue 😀

Sesma · 14/08/2025 09:37

Martin Clunes, I did enjoy Doc Martin though.

GameOfJones · 14/08/2025 09:38

I completely agree with Pedro Pascal. He's also a misogynistic twerp so I feel vindicated.

John Torode as well. It's something about his mouth and lower half of his face. I stopped watching Masterchef years ago because I found the way he tasted food reminded me of a bullfrog.

Celebrities with too much filler, botox and work done have this effect too. It's the unnatural look to their face. I love Nicole Kidman as an actress for example but her face looks so odd now that I can't concentrate on anything else when I'm watching something she's in. It's starting to happen with "normal" people now. The hairdresser cutting DD's hair last week had so much filler in her face that I had to try really hard not to stare at her.

smugmugg · 14/08/2025 09:38

@Coffeeishot yeah they are like androgynous, plastic surgery, homogenised robots. If I say a gang coming towards me I would think it was the end of days!

dunkery · 14/08/2025 09:38

Anthea Turner and Debbie Magee, both far too 'twee' and false. Both give the impression that they think they are so special and everyone loves them.

The only person I felt a bit like that about was Jimmy Saville, quite appropriately it turned out. There was always something grotesque and creepy about him to me.

Same - I couldn’t watch him on TV as a child, and couldn’t understand how other children didn’t also feel repulsed by him. No one else has provoked such a strong reaction.

Oh god yes, Keith Lemon. Physical revulsion to him.

He's like a grouper fish

Elton John has this effect on me. I physically recoil when I see a picture of him and I’m not sure why.

Ooh me too. Bleurgh. Him and Rod Stewart.

Shudder
