That today's forecast for the South and South East of England was and is very wrong

I'm in central London and it is raining. On the BBC weather app it is telling me that in central London it is clear sunshine now and for the rest of the day. When I woke up this morning the BBC weather app told me it would be sunshine and clouds this morning and then turn into a clear sunny scorcher. Well, it fully clouded over at about 11am and has only got darker and more cloudy since then and there's been thunder & lightening and rain on and off for at least an hour now!!!!

Why? How? Even the nowcast is wrong!!!

The weather forecast on LBC this morning said a high of 34 degree with constant sunshine. It's just under 25 degrees and very overcast. Earlier there was a heavy shower with thunder and lightning. I'm not complaining though. 34 degree is too much for me. 25 suits me just fine!

Agree. Just had to put a hoodie on and shut the windows. Looks like it is going to piss down. Forecast showing amazing sun and heat

A hoodie on?! Blimey. I’m in the Midlands and it’s currently full sun and 29 degrees 🥵

Isxmasoveryet · 13/08/2025 17:31

Send the rain please that sounds bliss

Serpentstooth · 13/08/2025 17:33

Hampshire near coast. Heavily overcast and stuffy, has been all day, wish it would rain,

Scoutingforducks · 13/08/2025 16:57

Its scorching here in Scotland

Near Edinburgh, it's roasting!

the80sweregreat · 13/08/2025 17:35

I’d love more rain! I want it to rain from now on till it October. We need it desperately

TrixieFatell · 13/08/2025 17:38

The other day I asked Google if it was raining. It was raining but Google.was very confident in telling me that it was not. I don't trust the forecasts

RampantIvy · 13/08/2025 17:38

31 degrees in my part of South Yorkshire today. The car was showing 34 degrees while on the motorway near Wakefield earlier.

We desperately need rain though.

Worse than that. The past couple of days, the "heat" of the day has lagged the actual thermometer reading by about 3 hours. Right now (17:38) it feels much hotter than it did at 14:38. Despite there being a breeze, it's the closeness.

JoyfulLife · 13/08/2025 17:40

I wish we could swap :) it is unbearably hot where we are, the sun was relentless all day and the house is an oven

Whizzgosh · 13/08/2025 17:41

🤷🏻‍♀️ West Midlands here, Apple, BBC and met office all say it’s 29 degrees and sunny, I’m sat in the garden where the thermometer says 30.4 degrees and the sun is shining.

Morethanthis71 · 13/08/2025 17:41

Happy that it's watered the garden but not happy that I can't hang out the 7 wash loads I did earlier today. I clearly got over enthusiastic with all the throws and curtains when I looked at the forecast .............. please let it be dry tomorrow.

Piggywaspushed · 13/08/2025 17:43

We had a tiny spit of rain here in the south mids. My phone did tell me this might happen. The BBC not so much.

It's still bloody boiling though.

GoodPudding · 13/08/2025 17:44

Ime the BBC weather app has form
for being very wrong. I remember a couple of years back it showed sun and 0% of rain, when it was thundering and pouring down!

HelenaWaiting · 13/08/2025 17:44

I'm in Manchester. Scorchio.

Idontjetwashthefucker · 13/08/2025 17:46

It's pretty accurate where I am in the NW, clear, sunny and 31°. It's been very wrong the last couple of days though

Whatshesaid96 · 13/08/2025 17:48

KatieKat88 · 13/08/2025 17:20

Very hot in the West Midlands!

Yes isn't it just. Quite happy to push the sunshine back down south if they really want it.

PuppyMonkey · 13/08/2025 17:49

Derbyshire - Scorchio and no rain.

Met Office app is what I use. Seems quite accurate to me.

the80sweregreat · 13/08/2025 17:49

I’m in the south, I want this heatwave gone !

strawlight · 13/08/2025 17:51

34 in Yorkshire today. So humid though, sat out in the garden for half an hour and was dripping with sweat. We’ve been on a hosepipe ban for several weeks so please send some rain up north, garden is looking v thirsty now.

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 13/08/2025 17:51

Imlyingandthatsthetruth · 13/08/2025 17:16

BBC rain forecast is rarely correct. Time to ditch this "10% chance of rain" crap for a start. I see they are back in bed with the met office, perhaps that will help.

Yes, if you only ever use BBC weather, whatever the forecast, the actual weather probably always comes as a surprise 😂.
Met Office is better, North Kent coast here and prediction was/is usually good. And as you say, they're going back to using the Met Office, so maybe will improve.

Umbilicat · 13/08/2025 17:52

Yup, it's been completely wrong in London today - a bit I get it, but this was waaaay off

PuggyPuggyPuggy · 13/08/2025 17:52

I use the met office app and from monday evening until this morning it claimed that it would be cloudy where I am in South Wales until about mid-day, then clear and go up to 28C. I went for an outing with my parents about 40 minutes drive away, where the weather was meant to do the same thing but a bit cooler, 24C. it's been cloudy all day in both places 🤷

RampantIvy · 13/08/2025 17:52

The aircon in our office is so fierce I had a cardigan on for most of the day. I opened the windows once the sun came round to let some warmth in.
