As the title says.
Have had a sore scalp on left side of my head since Saturday, it feels tender but not excruciating pain. Also have a lump behind left ear that hurts when I touch it.
Anyone ever had similar ?? Can never get a GP appointment but will try tomorrow if it persists!

I can’t quite tell from the description where the lump is but please look up mastoiditis and if the symptoms fit call 111 or go to a&e.

Thank you, sorry I wasn't super clear. The lump isn't on the ear itself but directly behind it , so behind my head

There was similar thread with a tender head and it was shingles

Is it on the bone? I had a pea shaped lump when I had it. I also had scalp pain.

@SupposesRoses yep on the bone.
What was it you had ?

I feel fine in myself , have been out all day today and feeling my usual self.

@RedRiverShore5 I did think shingles too initially but thought I'd have other symptoms i.e. feeling unwell.

Mastoiditis. I felt well otherwise, not much pain when the lump emerged.

@SupposesRoses oh wow, thank you for suggesting that then. I'll see how I feel tomorrow and then call the GP if needed.

It’s an a&e job today if the symptoms match, unfortunately, as it can progress to meningitis.

@SupposesRoses thank you

This sounds as though it could be Grand Cell Arteritis. Don’t want to scare you but it can cause blindness. The condition can be effectively treated with a course of steroids.

@NiftyLemon thank you
I think I'll ring NHS direct as I genuinely feel ok in myself , no headaches etc and then if needed they can tell the hosp to expect me

Been to minor injuries and seen by a doctor. Said ear looks fine inside so could be that I have shingles , don't have a rash but shingles doesn't always present one. Didn't give antivirals as wasn't certain it was..anyway back home which I'm glad about . Thank you for the advice 😊

Hopefully it will get better soon, at least you managed to see a doctor. I think before shingles people are generally a bit run down.
