What would you do if you found a random vegetable on your doorstep?
Just went out with recycling and found this

Ds says bin it. He is deeply suspicious
I want to know how it got there
Aliens?
A fox?
Sinister intent?
Lighthearted obviously I ll probably bin it
So aibu to suspect weird intent
Or is it a fox dropping it off?
I think I would be unreasonable to eat it.

It’s a cucumber, could a kind neighbour have shared it?

Barneysmomma · 10/08/2025 21:55

Definitely a cucumber but doesn't look like a healthy specimen. I've dropped off surplus produce to friends before but generally in a bag with a note! I wouldn't eat it if I grew that let alone give it to someone else..... add to compost heap maybe?

My first guess would be a friendly neighbour sharing their home grown produce. Maybe they put it on the wrong doorstep by mistake. Maybe it’s kids messing about. As PP said, it’s a cucumber. It does appear to be home grown. It looks to have been picked a bit late to me so I don’t think I’d eat it. The skin gets tough, though you can peel them, but the seeds will probably be too big to be nice to eat by now.

None of my immediate neighbours grow vegetables. Haha 😄 it didn't look like a cucumber to me. Maybe compost it. I m thinking fox as we get a lot.

Maybe it's the fox that knocked my orange juice over then dumped my milk on the pavement with bite marks on the box.

I was just rather surprised by it.
