MIL comments on my clothing sale haul

I need to vent…MIL popped round this evening. I went to M&S earlier and picked up quite a few bits in the sale.

In the Kitchen preparing some drinks, DH mentioned to MIL that I’d got a few bits and she asked to see them.

DH emptied my shopping bag on the table and comments included:

-‘no idea who would have paid full price for them’ re. A pair of trousers

-‘good price but they don’t feel the best quality’ - re. A pair of shoes

-‘oh blimey, they don’t leave much to the imagination do they? I can’t imagine they’d be comfortable to wear. Don’t let him (DH) force you to wear things for his benefit’ - re. a pair of knickers - not risqué at all! Slightly mesh at the back.

I think it’s the final comment which got to me, just so embarrassing!

Serves her right for looking at your knickers!

Is this normal behaviour for her? Because if so I’d be annoyed with DH for showing her the shopping.

Yeah. She's not wearing them is she. So I'd not worry about her opinions. You've bought the right clothes for you and on sale too so crack on.

My MIL is great, a really lovely person but our taste in clothing is very different. I would not want her to choose for me and vice versa.

The last comment would be the one I’d be least offended by! That one would just make me laugh. Surely you needed to say ‘oh ok I’ll only take them off for his benefit then!’
