To ask if housewarming parties are still a thing?

We are moving soon to a brand new area with our two kids, where we’ll know no one. I was wondering about having a little housewarming party and inviting our neighbours - we’re moving into a cul-de-sac so there’s probably about 5-6 houses we would invite. But do people still do this? We haven’t moved in several years so feel a bit clueless (and young - this sort of thing makes me feel like I’m not a proper adult 😂)

People are really weird about social events these days. You never know if the neighbours get on etc. I would meet a couple of them first and test the water with the idea. Housewarming with friends and family still definitely a thing.

We had a housewarming party a couple of years or so ago, and invited near neighbours, the people over the back fence, some work colleagues, good friends and family - an absolute houseful in the end!
Invitees liked to be invited, I think, as since COVID the party/social invitations had thinned out.
Our housewarming party helped us to settle in to our new location.
