To feel very uneasy at the latest 'conspiracy?' theory doing the rounds on social media?

I keep seeing different versions of the same thing, people saying that there are 'isis sleeper cells' hiding among migrants and there are plans to target children/schools in a terror attack.

I rolled my eyes to begin with thinking it's all scare mongering or it could be some idiots trying to drum up support for 'Reform'

However, there's a sizable amount of people vowing to keep their children off school and not send them back in September on account of these rumours. That's what got my attention.

Am I being unreasonable/ridiculous to feel unnerved by all of this talk? Do you think there's any truth in it?

Yes I've seen this too.

I think it's best ignored and unlikely.
It's created to cause panic and a bigger divide.
What I do think is possible is a lot of civil unrest which has been a long time coming imo but it's been ramped up by rumours like these.

I’ve seen it being peddled on tiktok like it’s the gospel truth with absolute knuckle dragging thickos trying to sound convincing. You can hear their one brain cell rattling in their skulls.

Apparently, the reason we’re not being told about it is because it’s part of a government plan to wipe out kids (presumably white kids or working class kids) so that they can be replaced.

I mean, if this was actually real, the right wing anti Labour and anti immigration press would be all over it, they’re happy enough to smear the government and immigrants with lies using false narratives and statistics as it is, so if this was actually TRUE there’s no way they would let it go unreported, they’d have a field day!

Not sure it's that but there's definitely something going on. Video evidence has shown that these migrants are almost exclusively fighting age men. You'd think it would be all women and children?

Sadly that is because they are coming from medieval countries who do not value or respect women - their values are completely different to ours so might not mean they are coming to fight etc but they value themselves over women and children.

The problem is anyone can post anything on line and make it fit their agenda, both left and right wing. Best to take anything you read on Facebook/Tiktok with a pinch of salt. I apply the same principle for MN as well.

I’m a teacher. I’ve loads of teacher friends in loads of different schools. This is a load of rubbish. Not one person has mentioned it.

It reminds me of the story that went round about 10/15 years ago. My friends mum/ neighbour saw that a woman in a head scarf/ man with an accent had dropped some money. They ran after them to give it back. The man/women said in a heavy accent “as a reward don’t go “name local big shopping centre/football ground” next week”. It was everywhere and so many people believed it

I think the sensible view is: it’s a possibility that a tiny minority are travelling here with Ill intent, but then people could come as legitimate tourists to carry out terror attacks.

I think it’s naive to make a blanket statement that it definitely couldn’t be the case, but as with all terrorism, we have to remember the chance is comparatively small and we need to put it in perspective to be able to live our lives.

The world has become very unstable over the past decade and we can’t be complacent about anything any more.

I’m a retired teacher and similarly have loads of friends still in teaching. Nobody has mentioned this. PP’s DH’s friend may have mentioned his school doing lockdown training. That’s pretty standard and has been for years. Just protocols, like you go through fire evacuation protocols.
