To be worried about 5 month old baby breathing in foam mattress offgas?

Bought a new IKEA sofa bed with foam mattresses for spare room. Slept on it for five nights with the baby in next to me cot while decorating our room.

Aired it for a day or so, but it still smelled when we slept in there with the six month old baby.

Im worried he’s breathed in all the toxic off gassing. I feel so stupid, I was tired and just didn’t think.

I know I can’t take back the decision :(

I think you need to seek help for your anxiety. This will have done nothing to your child but your ongoing anxiety will impact his life and you need to get help

Totally understand your concerns. Off gassing chemicals can effect the endocrine system. This is why I wouldn't have a foam mattress, but understand why others would so no judgement.
Like others though I suspect one night would not have any lasting effect and you are over thinking.

It was four nights. I guess I’m just looking for ways to get over the guilt I feel.

I still think you are overthinking it. I probably would do as well as I suffer from anxiety about such things, but from an outside perspective (even from someone hyper consious of chemicals in the environment) I think you are okay to relax on this one.
