To think that poor and inconsiderate managers directly lower productivity?

It’s not just common sense - there’s actual evidence-based research showing that bad management reduces motivation, which in turn leads to lower productivity. Yet somehow, companies still tolerate managers who micromanage, fail to communicate, or create toxic work environments.

Why do businesses act surprised when disengaged employees stop putting in effort? Have you ever experienced a situation where a bad manager drained motivation from an entire team?

My manager refuses to deal with the members of our team who do less than everyone else. The figures are there to see, so the rest of us work at their pace and production has gone down. But the lower figures are blamed on other reasons.

My manager is awful. I can tell she loves abusing people because she loves the power.

Managers abuse, because abusing people below them feels good
