Hi all,

looking to get something booked for mine and my partners first Christmas together.

sadly due to his Turkish passport, he can only travel to a select few countries without the need for a visa.

I would really like to introduce him to a European Christmas, with the markets and festivities, but struggling to find somewhere that is:

1- Visa free

2- Suitably festive for a break away encompassing Christmas Eve & Day itself

we have checked online and I’ve whittled the list down to:

Albania
Belarus
Bosnia
Georgia (although very similar to Turkey so he’s not so keen)
Kosovo
Montenegro
Serbia

Has anybody been to any of these locations over the festive period has enjoyed it? Any other ideas for a visa free Christmas trip?

Thank you!

Would it be so difficult for him to get a visa?

I hear good things about Montenegro, no idea what it would be like at Christmas however.

It’s a difficult position to be in as unfortunately we don’t quite have the sufficient evidence that the UK would need to be able to apply and be successful. We moved to Dubai in January of this year but didn’t start employment until May, the UK visa officers need 6 months minimum bank statements to apply, and my partner doesn’t earn enough money here to be able to have sufficient savings either.

Hmm, well most of them celebrate orthodox Christmas in January. I wouldn't expect huge festivities and markets in the way they do e.g. in Germany.

After a quick look it seems Belgrade might have markets etc and could be a good bet for a break. Christmas is Jan 7th though,
