A male judge stated he thought the rapist was not a ‘dangerous man’ and that the 13 year old victim had ‘not suffered much degree of psychological harm’

Top Tory blasts 'soft' sentence for man who raped 13-year-old girl

We need to be building more prisons.

Alternatively we could use all that time, effort and money preventing crime instead.

Nobody has said that every immigrant is a rapist, in the same way people with concerns about transwomen aren’t saying every transwoman is a rapist. I refuse to believe you can’t extend the same logic to this.

Well that is basically what that poster was suggesting.

I won’t engage with you further because I have read your comments on other threads and don’t believe that you are posting in good faith.

Goodnight.

Agree with you. MN is very active in the feminism section and many, many posters do not think TWTW. Most also accept that not every transgender person is a danger, but that some may be. News articles of men purporting to be women to access female spaces and commit a crime are often linked on relevant threads.

Yet, if you apply the same logic to immigration, you’re a nazi, racist, far right etc. I don’t know why one is so widely accepted and the other is vilified.

I hear you. Find space for these horrors to exist and keep the public safe.

It shouldn’t be necessary. They shouldn’t be here in the first place.

So opinions can only be in good faith and sincerely held if you agree with them and don’t find them too uncomfortable? Funny how posters always say that and duck out when confronted with irrefutable logic.

‘Discriminated against’ - in what world would that possibly be considered as a defence or excuse for such abhorrent behaviour?

It isn't a defence, it is potentially a mitigation, different things.

Juststop2025 · 05/08/2025 23:52

SaladAndChipsForTea · 05/08/2025 23:32

Why is the result of trauma-level relevant to sentencing?

Rape is rape. The act is illegal.

Whether it's a (perpetrator) husband, father, brother or stranger.... (means) date rape, threat, weapon... (mindset of perpetrator) drunk, angry, tired... (victim) age, sex, species etc

When will the crime alone be cinsidered abhorrent "enough"?

Why dies the victim have any any relevance? Rape is rape. He is a rapist.

Should always be a maximum sentence.

Agree. Judges finding ways to be lenient is extremely suspicious. Only rapists and rape apologists do this, and only rapists and rape apologists defend this. Check his hard drive.

MrsSkylerWhite · 05/08/2025 23:54

I would like to understand what this comment meant, though @VaseofViolets , if it wasn’t suggesting that immigrant - rapist?

Really, please explain.

I should have said I don’t think it’s an excuse, a defense or any kind of mitigating circumstance then. I’d be interested in hearing an explanation why his potentially being discriminated against would be considered mitigating circumstances in the rape of a child.

Comtesse · 06/08/2025 00:02

Immediately.

What a reprehensible comment. Try reading @JaniceBattersby explanation - some facts would not go amiss…

It’s obvious that poster meant she isn’t in favour of immigration due to the excess risk posed to women when we already have enough home grown sex offenders? She may have meant certain types of immigration, or immigration full stop, she or he can hopefully clarify.

VaseofViolets · 06/08/2025 00:15

You stated that you were pro-immigration. I replied that I’m not, for reasons such as this. Specifically, I think it’s clear that a not-insignificant number of immigrant men have cultural values and norms which differ from those in the UK. You extrapolated wildly from what I said and insinuated that I must therefore think all immigrants are rapists. Which no one does.

VaseofViolets · 05/08/2025 22:19

God forbid there might be tension or unrest as a result of accurate reporting of a judge’s comments on this man’s heinous crime…

What’s wrong with you?

Now I understand why the pakistani gangs got away with grooming and raping white children - women who are also most likely Mother's are more outraged by potential bigotry and inaccurate reporting.

I’d be interested to know what’s actually happened, rather than the daily mail version.

What? You think that perhaps the 13-year-old girl "wanted it"? Or perhaps it was what she wore? That the perpetrator made a wrong assumption, or didn't know what he was doing?

I wonder what you would think of the sentence if it was one of your daughters, nieces, granddaughters, etc. Or yourself?

This judge sounds like one of the idiots that would say that if a woman is being raped, she should just lay back and enjoy it.

Quite. I hope that poor child or her family never read this thread.

Only rape apologists do ont understand your point.

Anyone who mentions race/ethnicity/citizenship in a sentencing as any sort of mitigating factor wants to keep the rapist in the country. If he is not from the UK he could potentially be deported if the judge actually invokes a reasonable sentence.

They cannot argue with facts. Straw man fallacies, and ad hominem slurs and insults is all they have.

Are you satisfied with the metropolitan police account of events? Are you happy with the detective inspectors account who led this investigation?

Because it's exactly the same as the daily mail report. Honest to god what's wrong with you.

You’ve quoted a post with the bbc thread. Have you read it yet?

JamesMacGill · 06/08/2025 00:34

I would love to know what ‘what actually happened’ means - how much wiggle room is there for optics when a 13 year old is raped? What sort of stunning revelation would throw a different light over it all?

Sickening to think that despite such a heinous crime committed against a child, some people are apologists of it and feel sympathy for the perpetrating predator!
