Person a bought 2 very expensive tickets for a London show that included free food and champagne. They travelled by train into London together (several train changes)

Half way though the show there was a brief break for food. Person b lost their phone and was given it back. After the intermission, they both found their seats (front row) and person b accidentally spilt 4 glasses of champagne over person A (both were drunk)

Person a was very wet and went to dry off but they weren’t allowed back to their seat as it would “distract” others from the show

After the show, they couldn’t find each other (person b was ridiculously drunk).

what would your next move have been?

aibu to think person a should have called the very drunk person b to locate them so they could travel home together

Both are unreasonable for being so drunk. Whatever happened after is a consequence of getting drunk, so all bets are off at that point, really

DaisyChain505 · 03/08/2025 13:28

Both shouldn’t have been so drunk whilst attending the theatre. It’s rude and selfish.

MrsSkylerWhite · 03/08/2025 13:29

What kind of twat gets drunk in a theatre?

Heyisforhorses · 03/08/2025 13:31

Who spends that much money to get so drunk they end up having a bad night?

A should have rung B, they also should have stood at the door B would have been coming out of.

How did they both get home?

Hoardasurass · 03/08/2025 13:32

I wouldn't have gotten so drunk nor would I have gone to an event with someone who got that drunk.
That said if you were both that drunk I wouldn't expect any coherent thoughts from either of you.
Why couldn't person b phone person a? Why is it on person a to be responsible for person b who is presumably an adult if they're drunk?

Vaxtable · 03/08/2025 13:33

Both of you shouldnt have got drunk

lnks · 03/08/2025 13:34

Neither person was behaving in a reasonable way. Being that drunk at the theatre is unreasonable and probably disruptive to others.

tumblingdowntherabbithole · 03/08/2025 13:35

Both of you behaved ridiculously.

Overthebow · 03/08/2025 13:36

Both unreasonable. Awful behavior and not expected in a theatre.

Cynic17 · 03/08/2025 13:36

They are both idiots and deserve each other. Why get drunk when you're going to the theatre?
My deepest sympathies to those people who had to sit near them.

Zempy · 03/08/2025 13:37

Why get so drunk at the theatre?

WonderingWanda · 03/08/2025 13:39

Well it makes sense if you travelled there together to return home together, especially if you are going to drip feed that person b who was ridiculously drunk is female and was abandoned by her dp to travel across London late at night on her own. However, I have little sympathy for either of you for behaving like that at the theatre.

22O725 · 03/08/2025 13:42

I would not have done any of it so can’t really answer the question regarding travelling home.

How absolutely awful of them both.

This

the man was tipsy rather than drunk

He left her and didn’t even think to call her until he got home and realised (2 hours later) that she wasn’t home

Yes.

Person B needs to learn how to behave in public and not rely on others to get them out of self-created problems.

Oh, so she acts like a complete fucking idiot and he gets shit for not looking after her?

ThePhantomoftheEcobubbleOpera · 03/08/2025 13:45

I just feel bad for the audience who paid to actually enjoy a show and were seated near a pair of drunks making a nuisance of themselves.

MounjaroBingo · 03/08/2025 13:45

I don’t really know what’s going on here, but I know I’d be super pissed off if this pair of twerps were say near me and ruined the experience of my also expensive tickets

lnks · 03/08/2025 13:46

What is the point of drip feeding?

legsekeven · 03/08/2025 13:46

Well person a missed half of a show they had paid alot of money for cause person b was very drunk. Don’t blame him for leaving. The question you should be asking is why did you get very drunk. Is this a regular thing

Hoardasurass · 03/08/2025 13:47

So she wrecked the evening that cost a fortune by getting absolutely shitfaced and then pours 4 glasses of champagne over him and he then misses the rest of the show and she's now pissed at him for going home instead of waiting for his drunk date.
He needs to dump her and find someone better

PestoHoliday · 03/08/2025 13:47

Both are awful and probably disrupted the performance for others around them. I hope they both have hangovers.

SchoolDilemma17 · 03/08/2025 13:47

this post makes it clear why they shouldn’t offer packages w free booze. The other people around them must have been thrilled.

Jellycatspyjamas · 03/08/2025 13:50

I don’t know why you’ve used scare quotes, a tipsy person coming back to a wet seat next to someone drunk enough to tip champagne everywhere is going to be distracting to say the least.

It’s also quite rich to ruin someone’s night because you’ve got too drunk and then expect the other to wait around to get you home safely. What nonsense behaviour from a grown adult.

TokyoSushi · 03/08/2025 13:51

Dreadful behaviour from both, I feel sorry for the people next to them who probably also paid a lot for their tickets.
