Person a bought 2 very expensive tickets for a London show that included free food and champagne. They travelled by train into London together (several train changes)

Half way though the show there was a brief break for food. Person b lost their phone and was given it back. After the intermission, they both found their seats (front row) and person b accidentally spilt 4 glasses of champagne over person A (both were drunk)

Person a was very wet and went to dry off but they weren’t allowed back to their seat as it would “distract” others from the show

After the show, they couldn’t find each other (person b was ridiculously drunk).

what would your next move have been?

aibu to think person a should have called the very drunk person b to locate them so they could travel home together

Person A should have gone home/to hotel and left person B to sort themselves out.
If you're going to a "show" and getting that pissed you have a bigger problem.

ETA Person B also needs to pay the dry cleaning bill for Person A at least, if not pay for the tickets.

Gazelda · 03/08/2025 14:21

Person B behave appallingly. Owes A an apology.

Person A is probably feeling mightily miffed at the awful waste of money but is either being guilt tripped for leaving B to fend for themselves while vulnerable, or is feeling a tad regretful and not seeing the date through to the end so that they can safely take the higher moral ground.

and yes, like everyone else, I feel sorriest for the rest of the audience and the performers for the undoubted disruptive behaviour caused by these 2 idiots.

Brefugee · 03/08/2025 14:23

also it is the HEIGHT of crass to guzzle so much champagne just because it was included in the price

SunnyPrague · 03/08/2025 14:26

Awful, unreasonable behaviour to get paralytic on a trip to the theatre. The whole sorry episode sounds ghastly. I’m glad I wasn’t in the audience that day.

mintydoggyv · 03/08/2025 14:27

Proves the point they should not sell drink at gigs or shows , both a and b should have been thrown out of the show

UsingAMansNameInAWomensWorld · 03/08/2025 14:28

So Person B took FOUR glasses of prosecco to their seat despite being pissed anyway?

That's unreasonable in itself

Gingernaut · 03/08/2025 14:31

Person B is in the wrong

Getting so shit faced in a crowded area so far from home is just stupid

If Person A, who paid for the trip, couldn't see half the show because of Person B's actions, then going home is absolutely reasonable

Person B is old enough to drink in public, Person B can absolutely go home alone

GRex · 03/08/2025 14:36

I think they are poor influences on each other and should stay apart. Maybe one of them at least could try being sober for a little while.

legsekeven · 03/08/2025 19:48

Hope you are ok op. Been a tough read for you

steff13 · 03/08/2025 20:06

Hoardasurass · 03/08/2025 13:53

A ofcourse

Since OP thinks A should have found B, I assumed OP was B.

AuntyDepressant · 03/08/2025 20:11

What sort of idiot gets ridiculously drunk in a theatre?

Jumpthewaves · 03/08/2025 20:13

I feel sorry for the other people in the theatre, I think both of you need to grow up and review your drinking habits.

What sort of idiot gets ridiculously drunk in a theatre?

Too many unfortunately

steff13 · 03/08/2025 20:06

Since OP thinks A should have found B, I assumed OP was B.

I think OP is person B as well and is annoyed her partner left her whilst she was embarrassing herself

SunsetCocktails · 03/08/2025 20:28

OP is quite clearly person B after her update above.
How embarrassing to be that drunk at a theatre. Also, why was she carrying 4 glasses of champagne when there were only 2 people, and they were already trolleyed?

Barney16 · 03/08/2025 20:34

Are you actually 14 or something?

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 03/08/2025 20:41

Extremely embarrassing behaviour. I went to a show in London last year that did £££ food and drink packages and I’m wondering if it’s that one. In which case, you’ve ruined an amazing show not just for yourselves but anyone with the misfortune to be sitting in your vicinity. Classy.

Fountofwisdom · 03/08/2025 20:43

Both absolute morons. Appalling behaviour in a theatre and must have impacted on other people around you and spoilt their evening, as they had to watch and listen to your embarrassing nonsense. Bet you were also both talking loudly and being a general PITA. It’s a shame you weren’t both thrown out at the interval.

Couldn’t care less how either of you got home, you were both drunk and irresponsible. Play stupid games, get stupid prizes.

DaisyChain505 · 03/08/2025 20:46

I think you should both stop pointing fingers at each other and take a long hard look in the mirror at yourself and re think your drinking habits.
