Person a bought 2 very expensive tickets for a London show that included free food and champagne. They travelled by train into London together (several train changes)

Half way though the show there was a brief break for food. Person b lost their phone and was given it back. After the intermission, they both found their seats (front row) and person b accidentally spilt 4 glasses of champagne over person A (both were drunk)

Person a was very wet and went to dry off but they weren’t allowed back to their seat as it would “distract” others from the show

After the show, they couldn’t find each other (person b was ridiculously drunk).

what would your next move have been?

aibu to think person a should have called the very drunk person b to locate them so they could travel home together

So he buys expensive tickets for a show.

She makes a total twat of herself by getting pissed and pouring four glasses of champagne over him.

He can't get back to his seat after going off to clean up, so goes home.

She thinks he should be waiting for her and take her home!

She needs to give her head a wobble. He must have been so annoyed after spending a lot of money and she ruined the evening.

Did he think she might have left the theatre and got a taxi?

CyanDreamer · 03/08/2025 13:51

So drunk that one lost their phone, spilled even more drinks.

I feel sorry for the poor sods sitting behind that pair. Why paying for an expensive show to get drunk? What's wrong with your local pub showing a movie? 😂

If people are that drunk, rules of common sense clearly don't apply here.
YABU for getting that "tipsy" and that drunk

RoseaPlena · 03/08/2025 13:52

Both people sound awful. I think if I were A I would have found B, got her home but then never seen her again.

Which are you, op?

A ofcourse

Both are unreasonable for being so drunk. Whatever happened after is a consequence of getting drunk, so all bets are off at that point, really

^ This.
Both have a drink problem.

legsekeven · 03/08/2025 13:56

Op just explain clearly without a/b person.

As so often happens, first post nails it.

Op just explain clearly without a/b person.

Yep. Entirely unnecessary. Unless OP is the one who was left behind and doesn’t want to admit it!

If someone spilled champagne on me and made me miss the second half of a show, I’m not about to hang around and wait for them.

DoYouReally · 03/08/2025 14:06

Person B is an absolute liability with a drink problem.

Person A isn't much better.

I feel sorry for persons C-Z who had their lovely and expensive day out in the theatre ruin by such inconsiderate alcoholics and also the staff who had to clean up this mess.

Dontcallmescarface · 03/08/2025 14:10

If I was "person a" I'd be running for the hills because if "person b" behaves like that in public then I can only imagine how they behave in private.

Brefugee · 03/08/2025 14:10

whenever i go anywhere with someone we arrange a meet up spot for after the event, so i would have gone there and waited.

Because i know some people are twats, i always say that i will wait up to 30 minutes (or an hour, depending on time, venue and type of event) after which i will go home via X route, or i will be going to Y place. If the latter i will text anyone who didn't make it to the RV to say where i am and again when i leave.

Over the years i have learned that people are idiots, so i have always got a plan to get myself home or back to accommodation under my own steam.

Mewling · 03/08/2025 14:12

I think the one who was ridiculously drunk probably deserved to get left behind.

TheHandmaidsSnail · 03/08/2025 14:12

Totally crazy situation, why were they both so drunk?

All of this.

LemonPies · 03/08/2025 14:14

Who doesn’t know that if they aren’t in their seat at the theatre, they can’t just bustle in late?

I don’t know what I would do as none of that would happen to me.

Palmparlour · 03/08/2025 14:15

I thought they didn’t serve alcohol until 18

YouBelongWithMe · 03/08/2025 14:15

I have secondhand embarrassment for the both of you. Adults?!?

ThePhantomoftheEcobubbleOpera · 03/08/2025 14:16

I think the op is person A, person B wouldn't be saying who paid for the tickets and nor would they have know that person A had been refused entry so as to not disturb the audience, they would just be labouring under the assumption that person A got the huff and went home.

WestwardHo1 · 03/08/2025 14:17

Drunk in a theatre?

Classy, proper classy.

I'm glad you Person A wasn't allowed back to their seat. Why should the people around you put up with drunken behaviour at the theatre?

WestwardHo1 · 03/08/2025 14:18

And, the question being what would I have done, well I wouldn't have got wasted at the theatre. And I like a drink.

Jellycatspyjamas · 03/08/2025 14:18

I assume person A and person B have spoken (had an almighty row) about it since, hence B knowing why A didn’t come back to their seat etc.

Didimum · 03/08/2025 14:19

Why the weird ‘person a’ and ‘person b’. Just tell the story, it’s unnecessary.

InsanityPolarity · 03/08/2025 14:19

Being so drunk You can’t really hold anyone accountable for much. All best intentions go to the wayside. Just let it go now and try not to drink so much next time if you want to have a good time.

HundredMilesAnHour · 03/08/2025 14:19

Both are complete muppets.Appalling and incredibly selfish behaviour. I wonder how many other people’s evening they ruined by their drunken behaviour.

MasterBeth · 03/08/2025 14:20

Why are you telling us all this irrelevant stuff at the beginning of the post, like the train journey in and losing a phone that was then recovered? Are you still drunk?
