Heavily pregnant, ordered baby furniture from Very – wrong set delivered & missing item

I’m currently heavily pregnant and trying to get everything sorted before baby arrives. We ordered a baby furniture set (cot, wardrobe, and changing table) from Very a while ago. The delivery date kept getting delayed, which was stressful enough on its own.

When it finally arrived, I was at work, so I paid someone to stay in and build it for us. I came home to find the cot and wardrobe built… but they’re completely the wrong set – not what we ordered at all – and the changing table wasn’t included.

It looks like Very sent us all mismatched boxes, and none of them contained the changing table. After checking online, I realised the set we received is actually more expensive than the one we ordered – but again, it’s not complete.

Here’s the thing though: we actually really like the furniture we’ve been sent. We’d be more than happy to keep it if they could just send the matching changing table, especially since this was their mix-up.

So now I’m stuck wondering:

  • Will they expect us to dismantle and return everything, even though it’s already been built?
  • Or could they just send us the matching changing table so we can keep what we’ve got?

Has anyone had a similar experience with Very or something like this elsewhere? Just trying to sort things before baby gets here and this kind of admin is the last thing I need right now 🙃

Just have to call them. I doubt they will accept back something already built though so hopefully they can just send the table.

They won’t accept it back built as will say it’s your duty to check the furniture before building. But a changing table in my opinion is a wasted expense as so rarely used. So maybe just ask for the cost reimbursed?

Phone them up. Id try and get refund on changing table as it's rarely used and not worth floor space.

If you've built it then they won't accept it back. The best you can hope for I would think is a refund on the changing table if you no longer want the one you ordered. They won't send you a more expensive one.

Although as others have pointed out changing tables are pretty much always just used as a storage (dumping) ground so I wouldn't be that worried it hadn't turned up.

If you’ve built it it’s yours now

If you really want the changing table can't you get it somewhere else? Ours had drawers in it - still used but never once used the changing bit. It was easier with a mat on the bed and babies start moving fairly quickly so could fall off.
