Recently a restaurant took on my son to work there
hes been there 4 weeks .

il be annoyed if there not closing down but it was her way of getting rid of my son working there? Instead of her being honest? What’s your views please thank you ?

Maybe…. Wait and see if it’s actually closed down? It’s not exactly a hard lie to bust if she’s made it up!

WunTooThree · 03/08/2025 00:29

Are they closing down? It is not clear in your OP.

StrictlySequinsandStiIettos · 03/08/2025 00:29

Less than 2 years/on probation, she could get rid of him regardless. Many restaurants go under/fold. Not sure why this one would be any different?

Notsuchafattynow · 03/08/2025 00:31

I'd wait to see if it does close down before getting annoyed. But to be honest, they may also making cut backs, and are cutting costs.

But if he's the employee, why is she texting you?

HeddaGarbled · 03/08/2025 00:32

Why is “she” messaging you? Doesn’t your son talk to whoever “she” is?

Dazzlemered · 03/08/2025 00:34

Who is she? And why is she messaging you?

Kimmeridge · 03/08/2025 00:36

Hes been there 4 weeks. They dont need an excuse to get rid of him. Presumably its a local restaurant so lying about closing wouldn't be the most sensible thing to do.

It's more likely to be that they've just now realised they cant keep trading. Happened to a coffee shop near me. They were advertising for staff then literally a few weeks later they announced they were closing.

Sounds like he's been unlucky

Why are they messaging you though and not dealing with him direct

cofffeeee · 03/08/2025 01:05

Maybe she didnt want to be contacting his mother when when things happen its him she has hired not you.
If i was me i would not want to hire anyone if i had to talk through them to their parent thats not the adult world.

I recognise the OP and her son has ADHD. I thought he had a little job in a cafe though 🤷🏻‍♀️

OP tends to post lots of posts on AIBU full of anxiety all within the space of an hour and then disappears for a while.

Even if the "restaurant" isn't closing down there isnt much you can do about it if he's only been there 4 weeks.

Isittimeformynapyet · 03/08/2025 01:29

Well, I suppose it would be wrong, so I guess at least you could get ready to be angry, just in case your suspicions turn out to be true.

Or you could just be sensible and not indulge in pointless speculation.
