Was queuing to be served at a well known uk based retail store. Two staff members at the till, second one wasn’t serving anyone.
she looked at me but didn’t acknowledge me so I waited, I looked back up and suddenly see she’s serving another woman out of nowhere but they’re talking to each other like they know each other.
after a few moments , I asked the employee why I wasn’t served next as I was next in line.

The girl who was being served, looks coldly at me and says this is because I am an employee - and they ignore me and carry on with the transaction.

I then politely queried why employees take priority over queuing customers, I was told if I was to question this again she would refuse to serve me!

so I said that’s fine, I’d rather be served by the other member of staff, who actually confirmed I wasn’t rude. Manager said she would speak to them but nothing more?
I was so confused, is this the entitlement or was I wrong?
especially when I hadn’t even been rude and felt she wanted me to escalate the situation.
I have recently decided to make sure I speak up for myself but then this happens.

WWYD next in this situation- or just leave it .
if you’re still with me thank you!

You spoke to the manager who said they'd speak to them. Seems its been dealt with. Its not unusual for businesses not to report back after a complaint unfortunately so escalating it will probably make no difference

Id forget about it now

That does sound annoying. You dealt with it at the time but I agree with pp that there is nothing to be gained from following it up.

The manager said she would speak to them. What would you like the resolution of this to be?

Really not a big drama. How many minutes of your day did you lose with this and how many have you wasted going over it?
