it's a 2001 fiat punto. It's our only car. I'm disabled. We need it. It's ALWAYS breaking down with weird electrical faults. We've decided to get rid of it as it's such a liability, but guess what? It has broken down again! It is completely dead outside our house and now we have to pay to get it towed to a garage...

AAAAArrrgggghhh....

FIAT - that explains it! lol, only kidding i had one it was very reliable. I have 3 cars, 2 broken rover 75's (02's) and a old ford mondeuo (r reg) - (the one that has NEVER let me down - touch wood)

Sanguine - have you thought about motability scheme www.motability.co.uk/main.cfm?Type=HWUS

You have my empathy, my car broke down after paying an extortionate amount for a service and MOT - I made the garage tow it away and give me a courtesy car while they fixed mine - strange how it is working well at the moment, even though I keep my fingers crossed whenver I go out in it!

Hi pidgysmum

We have thought about motability, but I've only got an 18 month award for DLA. I'm a bit concerned about getting a motability car and then DWP deciding I can't have high rate mobility any more. I walk like a drunken thing and occasionally fall over for no apparent reason, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything!

If you have an indefinite award you won't have to make a renewal claim and the likelihood of a medical is much less than if you have a fixed award.

Don't be scared, the DWP are there to help you......honestly.

Good luck with the car hope it's on the road again soon
