New posters welcome. It would be helpful to read at least the four Observer items above before posting. There are currently 10 items on The Observer website The real Salt Path | The Observer
To all - Please be extremely cautious when it comes to naming or implicating people and addresses not in the public eye or with no direct connection to the story, and around the understandable health speculations, especially where details are unclear or still emerging. Please do not engage with visitors who seem to have their own agenda and seek to derail. Avoid @'ing and quoting them as - from experience - this will only encourage them back to the threads. We have done amazingly well together for eleven very interesting, very serious and very silly threads so far. I can't be here as much as I'd like so all help with keeping our discussion walking along in a healthy and civil fashion is very welcome.
No saltiness. Keep to the path.

One tantalising to me thought is that CH’s articles are still focused wholly on TSP. She hasn’t even started on TWS and its claim of brain scans suddenly being clear. I hope John Todd’s neurologist is being consulted on his opinion of that claim.

There are still two entire books for CH to pick apart.

I actually wrote to her about that brain scan issue this week with a hypothesis based on some medical publications. She said it was very interesting, so I wonder if it comes up in any future publication (also possible she talks to some neurologist about it and they say I've misunderstood something).

Exactly, any medical scientist who came across evidence of such a miraculous cure would want to study it.
Compare that to the BS that SW cooks up in Landlines (end of chaper 3) where supposedly all kinds of medical professionals have contacted them, not wanting to find out more about how it happened, but 'suggesting reasons' to them for why it did. 🤨
Apparently even their all-noodle diet is considered to be a possible miracle cure now! 🤪

That's shocking. No way can that be described as anything other than deliberately misleading imo. What on earth were the publishers thinking?

Fascinating (as a non-LL reader)...and what I believe to be a pack of lies. The fact she brings "others with CBD" into the equation is, in my mind, wholly irresponsible, deplorable and "highly misleading" when also talking about Moth's alleged improvement.

BTW, I loved how CH used the phrase "highly misleading" in her latest (seemed to be a nod to RW's statement).

@FurryHappyKittens do you think it’s worth maybe adding some of the timing inconsistencies to the timeline that people have flagged today?

AldoGordo · 03/08/2025 10:54

cricketandwhodunnits · 03/08/2025 10:11

On it! Though, looking at what is now emerging, it seems that I might need recordings of all memorable Test matches in the previous 2-3 years so that we can switch into different timelines at will. That might help to increase the weight.

Well, that would help you no end as you would need to be vetted on how accurate your cricket knowledge actually is. I'm not sure we accept disclaimers.

Wow! She has some brass neck to say all of this in print 😄 which book is this from? I’ve only read TSP so far, but have ordered TWS and LL.

This is from Landlines, I found it in a free online sample, it's on page 65/66 there (probably different pages than in the physical book).
But my impression is that she and also PRH were getting bolder the longer they got away with it.

I'm on it, just slowly. But others are welcome to do the same and I can just add anything I've noted that seems missing.

Yes, but also it's not her making that claim, or any named/identifiable medical professional, but unspecified people writing letters - letters which were probably eaten by the dog in case anyone ever wants to see them...

Morning all. I'm quite relieved to come back and not find you all at 950 posts since last night. Still a bit of catching up to do though.

It was registered in the first quarter of 2015, so she died sometime in January, February, or March.

Source: GRO

You have to register a death within 6 weeks, so the earliest possible date of death here would be mid November 2014.

Imagine being a CBD sufferer and reading that. It's downright cruel.

Today’s “revelations” feel a bit like clutching at straws to me. Got to keep the story running.

The book’s sales have shot up in the meantime.

I still think there is a lot of misunderstanding of how publishing works on these threads, most of which has been said already.

Just read - what a load of exaggerated nonsense. One minute Moth has paralysing vertigo, the next he's reassuring Ray and jumping into a river. Curious to know what waterfall and where this was as I probably know it. I believe they visited the Falls of Glomach which is a large waterfall on a marginally exposed path, but this description doesn't tally with that.

How would all these medical professionals know he’d rallied so significantly to write to Raymoth?

I think low cal diets can mean less inflammation in body - what Ray is driving at here re: nutrition?

Do we now have evidence TSP didn’t take place when they said it did, not all completed & maybe this is why some insta posts removed?

Locals commenting on articles on TSP said that the part of book where road/path closed for military manoeuvres likely untrue as only ever ‘closed’ for filming. Anyone confirm/deny?

weneedthetruth · 03/08/2025 11:12

Hyenana · 03/08/2025 08:56

I find it particularly interesting that he remembers seeing them lounging about at 10 o'clock - in TSP they plan on leaving early but are caught "in the first light of dawn" which in Mid-September would have been a lot earlier (sunrise around 7 o'clock).
If true (Tadge probably knows when he does his checking rounds even if it's a long time ago) that shows quite a brass neck on their part.

It sounds like they were deliberately waiting to be challenged so they could fit it into their narrative.

Correction - sales of TSP have continued to FALL since the film was released in late May as well as post the Observer article which appeared 4 weeks ago.. During the last 6 weeks sales have declined as follows: 14,145/12,280/9,245/7,535/6,235 to 5,680 last week.

mauvishagain · 03/08/2025 11:14

I agree that Moths miracle fire would be very worthy of an academic paper or 3.

The problem there is the risk of patient identification, which would be pretty easy in a case study of 1! For this reason, I believe that TW would need to give consent for his details to be used in the writing of the paper. If he refused consent I think it would be very difficult to write anything that could be published during TW's lifetime.

Absolutely. “The others with CBD” …. I don’t even know where to begin with this. She can back-peddle all she likes on this issue but the damage has been done and is written right there in the books. “An all noodle diet” being considered as a miracle cure. That alone makes me angry. I can toss her books aside and seethe but the genuinely ill people who might have suddenly disputed and rejected what their own doctors or specialists told them because of their faith in what SW/RW has written on the subject have likely declined in health and now have no hope at all. What does she have to say to all of those readers and their families? Ooops sorry I made a mistake?

Or maybe it was the very low-calorie diet we survived on because we couldn't afford to eat

To think that this might have resulted in even one person with a serious, degenerative illness subjecting themselves to a low-calorie, poor-nutrition diet in the hope it may help boils my blood.

Maybe I’ve missed something but what’s to say Moth doesn’t have MS or Parkinsons?

RW wrote in TSP that Parkinsons was ruled out. If we are to believe her is another matter.

Maybe she also thought CBS/CBD was a relatively safe choice of condition to mention, because it’s so rare and so little is known about it. I don’t think she imagined people would be poring over every little detail of where it’s mentioned in her books.

They're v different diseases and easy to tell apart on scans.
