To feel embarrassed about walking around naked in gym changing rooms?

It isn’t because I dislike my body or anything but I do feel incredibly awkward about just stripping off and walking around. Is it upbringing?

I am quite envious of all the women who seem totally unbothered about doing this. If you’re trying to get changed without exposing everything, you’re definitely in the minority at my gym.

So I’m wondering how common it is for people to feel the way I do?!

And it’s not your house either. Nor for you to set the rules. It’s a changing room. A safe space for women to remove their clothes. There is nothing wrong with bodies.

I knew this would be DL or similar, I've noticed that there's a correlation between cost of gym membership and amount of prolonged nudity.

I don't have any issues with seeing it, and nobody is making anyone look.

Look? I don’t purposefully look at anyone. Someone standing naked in front of a mirror that is used by everyone and blow drying their pubes… pretty hard not to notice but I guess you don’t have eyes.

No but they have nicely set out vanity areas for you to sit and do your hair and make up and boxes of tissues. And the lighting is soft lol. Also don’t forget the Elemis body lotion.

I’ve seen the drying pubic hair with hair dryer too 🙈

As long as they are straight out the shower (hence clean) what’s the problem? If l had pubes, l might do the same.

Whilst I'm not in favour of communal spaces, this is an expected use of a hair dryer if one is made available in said setting

A bit off topic but I've signed up to a new DL that is being built and am horrified at the thought of lack of a privacy for changing for ME. Don't care what anyone else does but I want a cubicle, andwith amount they charge ill be peed off if there's no or limited availability of changing cubicles!!!

Our DLL has men's and women's and family changing.
The women's is open plan in 4 sections with 2 cubicles total.
The family has iirc two extra large cubicles.

If you must have a cubicle then maybe DLL won't be for you. Though you could change in the shower I guess.

I love the fact that parade and swan are verbs that only usually get used around nakedness. I love the image of proud flamboyance they imply.

I'm also wondering if some ladies do it to get a thrill?
I've definitely caught a whiff of 'aroused fanjo' as they go past naked, on a couple of occasions.

Sorry. Just an observation...

Our old leisure centre had communal areas but there were cubicles as part of the changing rooms and I used to go into one. I can't imagine that any new centres would not have cubicles.

Our DL only has 3 or 4 cubicles but you get used to communal changing quickly. There’s lots of bench spaces and lockers so it’s rarely crowded.

I like the changing facilities, think it works well.

Yeah, I thought I was at a lesbian convention when I first went to a gym changing room where women did this. I'm glad that people are confident about their bodies but it can seem like parading about at times. I wouldn't be trembling under a towel, but would like, dry myself, put my knickers on, take towel off, put my bra on. Put deodorant on, get dressed.

Now my gym is like 5 minutes away and I just shower at home. So much easier.

I also use the cubicles, there are only two in my DL changing room too but i usually manage to get one.

I do find it odd when people do a full body naked moisturising session tbh, I've seen it a few times. I would always choose to do that sort of stuff at home, why do it in an open plan changing area

Speaking for the lesbians, I don't swan around naked and neither do any of my lesbian friends.

I think there are different cultures in different gyms. Where I go now everyone is discreet, if you looked you might see a glimps of something private, thats about it..there is a pool and it's very mixed age wise, from baby water classes to elderly swimmers. But years ago in a 'trendy' young gym they were all prancing about and I absolutely hated it. Stark naked while drying hair, I kid you not.

I think the people getting fully naked and walking around in front of OP aren't normal, they're pervs. OP has inadvertently been forced to participate in someone else's fetish. Nobody strips off and walks around nude, they very quickly get changed in one spot and try and do it discreetly. You might briefly see bits but if someone is full frontal wondering around a changing room then they're a freak who gets off on it.
