to be pissed off at Xmas activities being advertised on roadside banners in July

Christmas is an annual certainty; arguably needs no heads up at all. Kids only just broken up for summer, halloween miles away, and yet... banners already up for xmas things. I just feel that a 5 month lead up is way too much, and a major reason why, for me anyway, xmas in this country is tedious.

Might depend on the type of thing.
If it is an event that is quite expensive, the sort of thing you will plan for rather than go to on a whim, I can sort of understand why the organisers might want to advertise early.

And I don't necessarily agree that this sort of thing can be held responsible for how you find Christmas tedious. Your Christmas is how you make it. I am in my 60s and still look forward to and enjoy it.

I don’t get why people get angry at this sort of thing. If it’s an event or booking a Christmas dinner at a restaurant, these things need forward planning so they have to advertise early.

it's just a business advertising its event, why are you even getting worked up?

maybe it's expensive, maybe it's tickets, maybe it'll sell out, maybe they want more to attend.

it's just a business advert..chill

Well as you say, Christmas is an annual certainty so people tend to plan for it.

I'm not sure why that pisses you off.

Most people tend to book their Summer holiday a year in advance, or concert tickets etc.
