Adult DD has a love bite and I just hate it

is it really just me? She’s 23 and thinks I’m very unreasonable and no one else’s Mom would care. I think they’re vile when visible. It’s making what is private, personal. It’s huge. Luckily she works from home and isn’t the slightest bothered by it. I’m a little hurt that she knows I hate to see them on her but doesn’t care.

What a drip feed

Almost like you weren't getting the response you wanted and decided to try and up the ante...

Tedious, isn’t it?

Truly tedious

Change the whole outlook of the thread because it's not going your way

After my parents divorced I was fucking mortified to see my dad with one. I don’t think I’ve ever cringed so hard. They’re not exactly classy but I don’t think I’d be that arsed by it, young love and all that.

I feel sad for her. So sad about what women are expected to put up with for disgusting men.

What??
I mean they are not very nice and pretty juvenile, but as I recall it was something teenagers did not men.

OneNeatBlueOrca · 31/07/2025 23:16

Well yes, having your skin marked like that. Clearly, the man thinks he's marked his territory. Why else are they done other than to be visible.

Maybe he's got some top?

mondaytosunday · 01/08/2025 13:07

She’s an adult. You have no right to an opinion on this.

I don't like them either but it's her body and she's an adult, so YABU to try to control what she does.

Who says "love bite?" 😂

Well its better than Shag tag...

SitOnHisFaceIfHeDiesHeDies · 01/08/2025 13:10

Tramp stamps 🤣

I used to get really pissed off as I could never do them! Oh to be a teenager again

Well, especially as no 'shagging' is required to give/get one.

Edited

But often shagging is involved especially when they are in more intimate areas....

Is it?
The point is that it doesn't have to be.
Also, if OP can see her daughter's bite then it cannot be that intimate.

LittlleMy · 01/08/2025 13:30

@Rokuandice YANBU def not! Urgh - I’m getting creeped out right now as my recent ex once we got together (me 48 and him 52), was giving me love bites on my neck. I had to ask him several times not to before he’d stop.

Interestingly after that, he completely lost interest in my neck which I thought a bit odd as a bit of gentle attention I actually liked. Anyway a year on I found myself in a relationship with a very controlling, jealous and paranoid man which I eventually had to walk away from.

In hindsight, I’m pretty certain he was ‘marking’ me as his by deliberately leaving these marks. Can find no other explanation for it which is why I personally now would view anyone persistently leaving them a a potential red flag - especially so after the age of 50!

super weird that you think she should adjust her love/sex life based on your sensitivities....

Not just a man thing though is it whatever reason they do it for? I see more men walking around with them tbh

Thepeopleversuswork · 01/08/2025 14:14

I think they're absolutely cringe but it goes with the territory.

No one else other than you will notice and it will fade in a few days. I'd just ignore it.

SmurfnoffIce · 01/08/2025 14:20

yes I think after the call for assistance on Saturday that she might be a little more sensitive that I don’t want to see a fresh one on her neck from this individual after his behaviour

Even after the massive drip feed, this still sounds like a one-hour special of “The Me Me and More Me Show”. If you’re really worried about your daughter, maybe concentrate on her rather than YOUR finer feelings.

She is 23, so I assume the person who did it is a man.

MrsPositivity1 · 01/08/2025 18:08

Very immature behaviour

BauhausOfEliott · 01/08/2025 18:38

She's TWENTY-THREE YEARS OLD so no, when she's fucking her boyfriend, she shouldn't be worrying about what her mummy might think of her love-bites.

Seriously, you really need to mind your own business. You're 'hurt' because your 23-year-old daughter doesn't choose her sexual activities based on what you find tasteful? Good grief.

Also, some people on this thread need to learn that just because a woman likes something different from you in bed, that doesn't mean she's only doing it to please a man. It's patronising (and I would say also actually rather misogynistic) to assume that women's sexuality is so narrow that they can't possibly be turned on by anything beyond sweet, gentle romantic sex.

BauhausOfEliott · 01/08/2025 18:46

Rokuandice · 01/08/2025 07:18

After hearing her sobbing in the street on Saturday and hearing women approach to see if she was okay - and dreading hearing a strange male voice approach - yes I’m worried about the relationship she’s in. Not too worried in the long run as I believe she will move on to a better partner. I’ll always think very visible love bites are 🤮 … and yes I think after the call for assistance on Saturday that she might be a little more sensitive that I don’t want to see a fresh one on her neck from this individual after his behaviour - as for moving out, she’s been away for uni and a year abroad - we laughed and agreed that what happened overseas stayed overseas but safe sex etc was a must. I don’t like love bites and I don’t like any young woman to be with idiots who behave less than they should do - combined with this being my DD, I’m okay with my feelings on this to be honest

So, if your issue is 'I'm worried my daughter might be in an abusive relationship', why did you make your entire thread about her having a love bite and how horrible and tacky it is, and only mention the other stuff miles later?

You're entitled to find love bites tacky and to dislike it. You're not entitled to have any say in whether your daughter gets them - and even less entitled to expect a 23-year-old woman to give a shit what you think about it.
