Adult DD has a love bite and I just hate it

is it really just me? She’s 23 and thinks I’m very unreasonable and no one else’s Mom would care. I think they’re vile when visible. It’s making what is private, personal. It’s huge. Luckily she works from home and isn’t the slightest bothered by it. I’m a little hurt that she knows I hate to see them on her but doesn’t care.

As long as she’s comfortable with them I don’t see what your problem is op. Her body, her choice. When I was younger, hickeys were all the rage. I don’t know why because they look bloody dreadful. I think ive only had them a handful of times. Well visible ones. That was about 15 years ago TBH I have eczema on my neck that presents as a love bite, I’ve learned to live with it but I do get some looks

Yes it’s tacky but it’s not up to you to say.
for example, I had a “friend” (long story, she literally flipped out on me and tried to off my pet lizard and killed my house plants while she was a house guest!!!) but she would walk around with hickeys all over her neck, from MULTIPLE men. It was foul. She also never used protection with these men and just took their word for it. Bonus points because she walked around in next to nothing!! And refused to make any effort, even for big events

Women certainly do give hickeys; my 18 year old DD and her girlfriend had matching ones recently, and it amused me no end to point out "Oh, you've done something to your neck!", just like my own mum did when I was a teen!

I agree they're not my favourite things to see, but we were all young once!

Sounds like you're having trouble adjusting to the fact that she's a grown woman and you can't tell her what to do anymore.

You've said your piece, now let her get on with it. She's probably going to make many, many decisions in life that you don't agree with, and if you continue to get upset when she doesn't do what you say, she'll just stop involving you at all.

This! Some people are allowed to enjoy the sensation. Now that I’m older I make sure they aren’t visible, the once in a blue moon I have one, but women can enjoy things! They’re not all being ‘marked by men’. Loads of women also give them to men.

I can’t see that i’d get that worked up about it. I used to have a few as a reckless teen. I’d be mortified now though. But live and let live, certainly worse things she could be doing. Rarely see them these days to be fair.

Is a love bite a hickey? If so, at 23 she is too old to be sexually involved with someone who gives them. As for the patriarchy stuff, the OP has not told us the sex of her daughter's partner(s), and it doesn't really matter.
