Expensive hens… why

our group of girls are early 30s in average jobs, some are mums. A hen has been planned for next year and it’s £340 each for 17 people in rural location for 2 nights with hot tub to include food (one of the girls will cook for all guests) booze and activities (games such as mr and Mrs and all low cost games like that). This is all within the accommodation - we aren’t leaving the apartment once. It looks like a lovely apartment though. This is all sharing rooms and even beds at times with others too

is this a rip off? I think it is considering it doesn’t include leaving the place at all. There is an option for 1 night at £240 but I still think that is a lot even taking inflation into consideration

we aren’t lawyers and doctors we are pretty average women

This is one of the great joys of having kids- a ready made excuse to not go to some of these awful events that you’d otherwise feel pressured into! 😆

If it was a weekend city break you might spend £100 on a budget twin for two nights, but you could easily spend another £300 on food and drink over 2/3 days.
I would spend 500+ on a sister/daughter/life long friend.
2-300 on a very good friend/cousin
less than 200 on a friend.
that’s everything from accommodation/ travel/drink /food etc.

One of the advantages of being late 40s is that hen parties are behind me and that when we were in that phase of lots of people getting married we just went to the pub and got pissed, had a hangover and that was the end of it.
Now everyone is married or not interested in getting married ever, some are divorced, but nobody has had some ridiculous hen trip costing a small fortune for second marriages, thank goodness.

Same for destination weddings - all my friends and relatives had normal weddings in the town they lived in, a reception afterwards and a piss up in the evening.

My hen and my sisters hens were low key pub style hens everyone made their own way home at the end or the odd person crashing on sofas here and there but the best hens you could go to.

This sounds really expensive, unless you're staying in a castle, or super luxurious air bnb. Why is it so much money?!!

I could manage to share a room, but no way am i sharing bed.

And who is the poor woman who is cooking all the food for 17 women fir the whole weekend?! How the hell is that going to work?

I think this is any easy decision for you, OP, based on your bf baby ...
