New posters welcome. It would be helpful to read at least the four Observer items above before posting. There are currently 10 items on The Observer website The real Salt Path | The Observer

To all - Please be extremely cautious when it comes to naming or implicating people and addresses not in the public eye or with no direct connection to the story, and around the understandable health speculations, especially where details are unclear or still emerging. Please do not engage with visitors who seem to have their own agenda and seek to derail. Avoid @'ing and quoting them as - from experience - this will only encourage them back to the threads. We have done amazingly well together for ten very interesting, very serious and very silly threads so far. I can't be here as much as I'd like so all help with keeping our discussion walking along in a healthy and civil fashion is very welcome.

No saltiness. Keep to the path.

Does stolen fudge taste better?

I'll add a few more things and post an updated timeline around page 20 of this thread.

I hope you don't mind suggestions - it was a very comprehensive, yet concise, list thanks.

For reference, it may be worth adding 6 April 2020 - the establishment of the current company:

Not sure if I shared these comments before from a neuropsychologist on another thread about Moth's CBD symptoms.

There's a lot that's fuzzy in the early years where they met as teenagers, then got married at 24 / 26, then sold a house in Staffordshire (what were they earning and how, to be able to buy a house at that point?) before they moved to Wales. While that's before they entered the public eye, it does suggest they may have had a leg up with house buying and or jobs in the family business.

In TWS SalRay says they bought a house before they were married- so presumably around 1985. Neither had been to uni and at least she was living at home so I imagine they saved up a deposit and got a mortgage; but houses were a more achievable price back then. If they’re both quite handy they could conceivably have bought a doer-upper and made a decent profit when they sold it.

@AlertCat you mention ‘neither had been to uni’, but there’s a possibility that Moth might have, as an article from a previous thread suggests he had a botany degree (before the horticulture degree he starts in TSP).

TWS claims walk was Sept 2019 (9 months after moving to Bill Cole's farm).

Also worth noting that RW's IG shows a different (or same?) Iceland trip in Feb 2017 (just over a year before TSP published).

Oh lol just saw I wrote ‘September 2029’ for the Iceland walk 😄 now that would definitely be dodgy haha.

That’s true, but I thought (think) he probably didn’t have a botany degree because

  • he is also a master plasterer
  • he went to the same college as Sally- she says sixth form , he is 2 years older so 20 when she says they met, to me this is more suggestive of day release for plastering apprenticeship than anything else
  • if he went to uni after this, I don’t see how they could buy a house when she says they did because he’d’ve been a student and it seems unlikely they could get a mortgage
  • they had kids not long after getting married (she says about their Scotland trip that the next one they would have a baby backpack with them) so ditto on the mortgage/earnings, how would they have managed if he were studying and she was looking after a baby?
  • they both seem to have form for not being 100% truthful (TW lies to Bill that he has been told not to plan beyond Christmas) so saying you have a botany degree when another Tim Walker does seems within the realms of possible
  • apparently botany degrees and graduates are very rare, someone mentioned on the last thread

so all in all, I think he probably didn’t go to uni before the Plymouth course!

This was Mrs Thatcher's 'boom' before the 'bust'. They may have just got in before the prices went soaring:

The biggest five-year increase occurred between 1985 to 1990, where average house prices increased by 109%, reaching £58,250. But what’s really interesting, is that the following five years saw the only dip in average house prices, falling 5% to £55,437 on average in 1995.
