For example:
OP complains about her neighbour and give the options:

YABU – Stay Quiet
YANBU – Go round and speak to them

and there will always be responses along the lines
"Well you should go round, but I've put YABU because you're unreasonable to have put up with this for so long"

You’re completely missing the point of the poll! OP wants to able to look at the % of responses and try to gauge what they should do/if they’re being unreasonable. They shouldn’t have to go through all the comments totting up and re-doing the maths for people that have decided to disregard the poll options and substitute their own!

I’m sure there will be plenty of responses along the lines of “it’s a public forum I shall use it however I please!” And yes, that is your right, but I want to point out you’re being unhelpful!

Semi light-hearted, I realise OP can usually get better information from the actual posts. I'm expecting mostly sarcastic responses so do your worst!😂

Well I dont get option a and option b

Then poster's come on to complain 'how on earth could 3% go option b how terrible' what is the point of a poll of people are only allowed to pick one option in the first place?

I think that's usually frustration at people voting against a clear majority, but not explaining themselves in the thread. Obviously people are allowed to disagree, but I think they should say why. To just click "option b" and not back it up seems like shouting "you're all wrong!" and running off without giving any more information. Although I think when that happens the person usually falls into 1 of 3 categories:

  • Making up their own options like I said above
  • Trolls just trying to mess with the results
  • Clicked the wrong button by mistake/didn't understand the options

I suppose there’s also a chance that their genuine opinion is different to the vast majority, but when people are in that position I think they generally want to say their piece. Especially here where they can do it anonymously

I would agree with you on most threads but the ones where I see people making up their own options are where the OP is like: Was I being unreasonable to lend someone my Dyson Air Wrap for a wedding and not ask for it back?
YABU: Your hair is fabulous, you don't need a Dyson Air Wrap.
YANBU: You shouldn't ask for it back because it's not polite and she's your friend.
So no option for the actual reasonable course of action which in this case is clearly to send a text saying "hey can I have my thing back please?" At which point other points of view will be given by lots of posters who either can't vote because there are no sensible options or who click a vote at random because humans can't help pressing buttons!

ETA: This was not a real set of options on the Air Wrap threads, I just grabbed that scenario as a clear cut one to illustrate what I've seen on other threads.

Yeah to be fair when the options don't make sense OP has no one to blame but themselves - although in that case I think it's a bit odd people don't just ignore the poll rather than trying to fix it!
