So I support my local club and since the women’s team got promoted to the WSL a few years ago, and the men’s team started playing regular European football making it more difficult to get tickets for the Men’s games.
For the last few years we have attended 80% of the WSL home games, usually with hospitality tickets, which gives my kids the chance to meet players etc…. including Hannah Hampton (when she played for us).
We still get tickets for the men’s game, mostly cup competitions and the odd premiership game.
To be honest the WSL games have a much better family vibe, and are much more fun to watch!
The last men’s game I went to we scored in the first 10 minutes and just played defensively for the other 85 minutes- it was fairly dull!
The lionesses success is fantastic, and men who have an issue with women’s football have a dreadful case of ‘sour grapes’
I guess they find it emasculating, and I expect they also wine about players ‘taking the knee’ and wearing rainbow armbands whilst wanking off to the photo of Vinny Jones crushing Gaza’s nuts… in the ‘good old days’ when football was just ‘for men’!!!
