There’s so much negativity in the world it’s hard to find positivity. So tell me, what are you grateful for this year and what have you got to look forward to.

Grateful for in 2025..

Getting engaged.

A Family trip to Disneyland.

Dd winning her appeal to get into her preffered secondary school.

After waiting a year for my pip review, getting awarded more than what I was receiving.

what I’m looking forward to..

Me and DP having our first couples holiday abroad next week.

Replacing our bathroom in September.

Finishing our bedroom makeover in a few weeks. New carpet, wardrobes and bed.

name changed because this is extremely outing.

Just bought and moved into a lodge. I live rurally anyway, but the opportunity came up with my inheritance for a bigger bit of land. Peace and quiet, within nature. I'm going to resume watercolour landscaping painting now I'm here.

Great idea to spread some positivity OP!

A big one for me this year has been a return to studying something brand new. I always loved studying as a child/teenager/young adult, and to return to it has been truly enjoyable! Reading, note taking, essay writing and receiving positive feedback from a truly supportive online tutor has been a joy for me 😊

Also:

  • Re-painting our entire back garden fencing.
  • Both children getting fantastic school reports and great new teachers for next year.
  • Upcoming holiday- haven’t flown since before my DCs, so beyond excited for that!
  • Got an upcoming Princess theatre experience for my youngest & Gladiators tour (childhood nostalgia is off the chart!!!) coming up too.

Thanks for trying to share and spread some joy in 2025!

DD finished her degree and graduated (with a 2:1). She has a proper FT permanent job. She’s currently living at home, so we see much more of her (she went to uni 300 miles away).

DS successfully completed his first year at university, and is enjoying the subject he chose to study.

Happy to see such lovely blessings for you all and hoping there are many more to come.

For me:

  • getting a new and better paid job working with such lovely people.
  • increased health and back to my pre-pandemic weight (gained 2 stone from poor eating) but am now back to my normal.
  • health of my loved ones
  • some great holidays and travels.
  • quality time with friends
  • getting a piercing I've always wanted
  • getting my first tattoo which healed well
  • Met a savings goal.
  • The healthy arrival of my niece.

Lovely thread. I am grateful for my promotion at work this year that I worked so hard to get. My new team are really nice and my boss is seriously awesome. He really champions women at work (I am in a male dominated imdustry) and gives me lots of oppportunities.

Lovely thread.

I've travelled this yr more than i have the last 10yrs ff diagnosis of a chronic pain condition and 3 major abdominal surgeries.
I thought id never travel again due to so much pain and inflammation but just got back from Japan! can hardly believe it myself. All the physio therapy is working and I've stuck to the weekly exercise and it's paying off.

I've learnt to swim! yay finally
I've resumed reading and have a pile of books to get through
DD is on meds for severe acne and has had no adverse reaction to it (existing MH issues so it was a big worry).

To do:
Learn how to ride a bike (You're never too old!)
Resume writing my book

dontcomeatme · 27/07/2025 16:49

2025 has been our year I think. Other than a few health scares we're still trying to deal with 🤞
We've had a new baby, bought a new car, and bought our forever home 🥰 everything is moving forward exactly as we wanted and we're feeling very lucky, grateful and happy ❤️
Love the thread OP x

I found your post really inspiring. I’m so happy you’ve learnt how to swim, it’s one that brings me great joy. Best of luck learning to ride a bike. I agree that you’re never too old, it’s brilliant to still set ourselves goals. Great stuff! 🥂👏🏻😊

The first half of 2025 was an absolute shit show for us - illness both physical and mental for Dh, a close family bereavement and a heap of stress with ds2 and GCSEs. However, there's still plenty to be grateful for:

  • Ds2 did eventually pull his finger out and work hard for his exams
  • We just got back from a completely lovely family holiday in Portugal
  • Mil has had good news regarding her health - after 2 mini-strokes there has been no further deterioration
  • Dh is on the mend and pretty much functioning normally again
  • Ds1 has had a great first year at uni and is home for the summer and actually a very pleasant human to spend time with
Sonolanona · 27/07/2025 19:18

My grandaughter arrived in February, and I was holding my daughter's hand as she did so... magical! (2nd grandchild, first was a horrific birth which made this even lovelier)

I took up a sport and am loving it.

I won best 1/2 plot at my allotment association for the second year running😁

LadeOde · 27/07/2025 21:54

@OutandAboutMum1821 Thank you so much and glad you found it inspiring. Swimming & cycling are amazing, I didn't get a chance to learn as a dc and had almost given up I'd never be a swimmer but determined to learn this yr as a 50 something and I'm now floating on my back & doing lengths. I feel so alive afterwards rather than trapped in a body full of stiffness and pain.
Cycling has always seemed like a lovely family thing to do so I'm looking for the right bike. I've already spoken to 'bikeability', in my area and they're looking forward to having me. They will both add so much more quality to life.

@Sonolanona Well done for winning best allotment!! what do you grow?

Netcurtainnelly · 27/07/2025 22:30

Being alive and healthy.
Enjoying a great summer of sport and some lovely weather.
