Men who refuse to watch the euro finals tomorrow as it’s women’s football - so what’s the point and refuse to watch, and say this in front of they wives and daughters are misogynistic pricks and their wives and daughters deserve so much better?

I heard an absolutely vile man on LBC yesterday morning. He was saying that he wouldn't be watching it 'because it was women',and 'nobody is interested in women's football'. Thankfully the presenter took him to task over his comments. Personally,I won't be watching it,but that's because I'm not the slightest bit interested in football. If it was men playing I still wouldn't be watching it!

Yes I heard him - that’s the man I was thinking of. Absolutely vile.

People who feel the need to go on and on and on and on and on about how much they hate women’s football and how tedious it is are absolutely misogynists.

Personally I dislike tennis. I find it tedious so I simply don’t watch it. No ranting necessary.

Completely different scenario.

In pure speed events everything is relative. If you changed the men’s 100m final to runners whose average times were 11s instead of 10s I doubt many people would notice.

The problem with football is skill and strength combined make the game watchable. Women’s football can’t ever compete with men’s football as a spectacle for that reason.

This is your opinion though? And loads of people disagree. You’re free to not watch of course but maybe have a think about why you feel the need to tell other people that it ‘can’t compete’

I simply responded to other posts. The weirder thing is people desperately defending something and claiming it is something it isn’t.

Arguably it is stranger to think that some people watch women’s football instead of men’s. Is that because they are sexist?

Why is it stranger? Surely it’s just a different preference.

Preference based on what? The sex of the players?

Preference based on the flow of the game and style of play. Same way some prefer the men’s game because they prefer the flow of those games and the style of play.

I don’t know why it would be “stranger” to prefer women’s to men’s when it both cases it’s just personal preference. (Often. Some people are just misogynists but not necessarily on this topic.)

RainSoakedNights · 27/07/2025 17:56

I tuned in after the f1. It’s just poor quality. I don’t know why that’s bad to point out?

SomethingFun · 27/07/2025 17:59

Right so because people don’t want to spunk £3k on a women’s football match it proves what? Women’s football fans aren’t rich? Don’t have as much disposable income? Don’t think a televised football match is worth thousands to see live?

What do you want me to say? Football is overpriced. It’s elitist and has lost its working class roots. If women’s football provides an affordable accessible alternative surely that’s a good thing. Especially to encourage women and girls to see themselves as sporting humans and not just supporting humans.

YesterdaysFuture · 27/07/2025 18:03

The women's game is definitely accessible live football in terms of price and lack of hooliganism, it's something I'd definitely consider taken children to, whereas the men's game is something I'd be weary of attending live.

AppleKatie · 27/07/2025 18:06

It isn’t poor quality. It is different to men’s yes but the world champions are playing the defending European champions. It’s reductive to just declare it poor quality.

It’s slow, the shots are poor quality, the defending is akin to the national league.

@RainSoakedNightswhat are you getting from posting on this thread? For someone who isn’t interested in women’s football you seem awfully invested.

Are we only allowed to share opinions that are positive?

It is levels below National League. A mid table National League team would put double figures past them before HT.

It is the misrepresentation that is tiresome.

I just think it’s odd that you’d come on this thread to be purposefully negative. But if it makes you feel good about yourself 🤷🏼‍♀️

JHound · 27/07/2025 18:22

This is the clip I heard - this kind of objection to women’s football I think is rooted in misogyny.

His dad has been taking him to watch women’s football since he was a baby.
He knows them all!

The shots are akin to the best women in the world and I’m finding it exciting and nail biting to watch so 🤷‍♀️

Flamingoknees · 27/07/2025 18:27

YABU - they can watch who they want. I don't like watching men play, so I don't

GinToBegin · 27/07/2025 20:01

I am watching the happy England team and fans, and having a moment of schadenfreude that my judgemental, insufferable cock of an so-called uncle will have just burst a blood vessel. (Pity anyone near him, he could start an argument in an empty room at the best of times, let alone when he’s vexed. And this will have vexed him very much.)

Mandoidi · 27/07/2025 20:04

Well done ladies, our house is very proud of you!!

Sadcafe · 27/07/2025 20:25

Well I watched it, enjoyed it and the Lionesses’s won, two trophies, shows the men up a bit
