Malnourished starving children in Gaza

babyproblems · 26/07/2025 06:42

The photos that appeared this morning on my news updates of mothers holding their children, dying of starvation and extreme malnutrition in Gaza have absolutely broken my heart. I am not particularly news focused, of course I’ve followed it all but this morning it has stopped me in my tracks and took my breath away. As a mother of a 3yo DS who is sleeping peacefully in his bedroom, whilst we have a fridge full of food downstairs and a life of peace, I feel so sorry that those poor mothers and children are living this hell so undeserved and also so so lucky we have the peace we do…
I don’t really know what the point of my post is; I suppose I’m screaming When Will This End inside and want to tell everyone to not take the freedom and peace we have for granted; use your right to vote and use your privilege to make informed choices that steer the world away from conflict towards peace…

Sending a handhold to all the mothers’ whose lives are not being lived in peace and whose children are suffering 🕊️💔

  1. they are starved by Hamas and Egypt
  2. 60k is fake number
  3. these people are Iran's agents
  4. All pictures released were AI, photoshopped or pictured with well fed adults
  5. USAID lied before about famine in Gaza in the past only to admit there wasn't one at all
Edited

And you know all of this with absolute certainty how? Who are you?

We’re all randoms. This awful situation provokes very strong feelings, obviously.

If the mass killing of babies doesn't evoke strong emotions in someone there is probably something wrong with them.

RosaMundi27 · 26/07/2025 18:31

The photo of the very obese Gazan woman with the starving child is actually a year old, but I'm sure that the people trying to undermine it by saying they could only find it on pro-Israel accounts know this already.

cimena · 26/07/2025 18:33

RosaMundi27 · 26/07/2025 18:23

If you actually look at the photo - it's got a label from Al Quds News on it. That means it came from a Palestinian Arabic newpaper which is published in Jerusalem. How do you explain that?

Quite funny that the people on this thread claiming that the mainstream news are publishing doctored photos are the same people posting images with no source at all other than hate speech accounts on twitter to back their arguments

MiloMinderbinder925 · 26/07/2025 18:36

RosaMundi27 · 26/07/2025 18:25

What's your explanation?

That you're absolutely desperate to defend the indefensible.

PunctuateTheGarden · 26/07/2025 18:37

RosaMundi27 · 26/07/2025 18:20

Are you afraid of the truth? For anyone else who doesn't want to click. It's a photograph of a woman in Gaza holding a malnourised child. She is of normal weight as is the other child standing in the photo. I think it's legitimate to ask how only one child is starving here? Does she feed herself and the other child? Does the malnourished child have a metabolic disease etc. etc.
The important point about this is that a cropped photo showing only the malnourished child was on the front page of the Daily Express.

Did you consider that the toddler might not be related to the woman? Or do you only ask questions that lead to the response that Palestinians are to blame for everything?

Hamas are playing the world with the lives of their own and Israel's women, and children. They seem to be a death cult. They know exactly what they are doing in the media. When they returned the Bibas family in pieces after straggling them...there was no deep condemnation. How tight is their grip on the media narrative. It's like big brother. Hamas says and many in the world listens. Free Gaza from Hamas. Free Gazans from Hamas. Listen to the voices of Gazan people NOT Hamas. Read up on how much aid is going into Gaza and then ask....who is taking it? Perhaps the fat terrorists?

This.

This.

Do you think that a terrorist organisation has a grip on all Western media and all humanitarian workers in Gaza?

PinkBobby · 26/07/2025 18:50

MiloMinderbinder925 · 26/07/2025 18:07

You're not going to find any independent and impartial sources that give a pro Israel viewpoint. The closest I know is https://www.haaretz.com/

Thank you - that’s helpful. If anyone is pro-Israel and can add to my collection of independent sources that support your argument, please share them. @GoldenRosebee and @RosaMundi27 you’ve shared various statements/arguments on here re ‘the truth’ about what’s happening in Gaza. I would really appreciate your trustworthy sources as I am yet to find this information from any trustworthy independent source and I’d be interested to see where you are getting this info from as you as asserting it as fact.

Lioncub2020 · 26/07/2025 18:56

So many people want us to be pro-Israel or pro-Hamas. I think both sides are pretty vile in this. Hamas terrorist action is evil and the Israeli response is evil.

Since no media is allowed to go inside Gaza, Hamas pretty much control their own media and narrative. So there is a high possibility that they manufacture a lot of fake news. Then it’s broadcast by Al Jazeera, and then pretty much all the Western media copies it.

As no one is allowed to go inside Gaza, the Israeli government can control their own media and the narrative (especially as the more powerful side in the war), so there’s a high possibility that they manufacture a lot of fake news, right?

Precisely why I abhor the leaders of organised religions.

No foreign media is allowed to go in by the Israel government, either. Both culpable.

It's Israel that has blocked journalists from entering Gaza.

A petition appeal by the Foreign Press Association filed with the Israeli Supreme Court on 19 December 2024 was rejected over “security concerns.”

Haven't read the full thread so this may have been mentioned already.
These starving children are going to become teenagers and adults at some point.

How will they view Israel and what happened to them during this period?

I think that Israel is helping create a new generation that will want to attack Israel - memories of this will be very long.

And it just takes 1 person with a very long memory to do something awful in the future.

And the humanitarian workers and Palestinians who have smart phones and are documenting what's going on, they're all Hamas? People who have come back after working there and tell their experiences, they're all Hamas operatives? The journalists risking starvation to report on what's going on, they're in cahoots with Hamas? I thought Hamas were in the tunnels feasting on aid.

Well the Al Jazeera Law will be permanent soon, so that stops any pesky foreign media from broadcasting.

Agreed - please can we start sharing the independent/trustworthy sources people are using who are totally pro-Israel and don’t see any wrongdoing / believe that a smear campaign is going on by the British Media. It would be really helpful for me (and maybe others) to understand what is shaping your viewpoint as I’m struggling to see the actions of Israel’s government and army as anything but criminal.

Here’s an interview for you with a British army officer who knowns what he’s talking about and explains why some in the west don’t fully support Israel, therefore fuelling the anti-Israel rhetoric in the media and among the public.

I believe that the whole Israeli tactic is that no one is Gaza lives to adulthood.

But the rest of the world us watching. No one is going to forget this.

Every single post about Gaza you’re there, saying it’s all fake.

I tend not to give too much credence to the comments of people who get their information from GB News and pop-up on every anti-immigrant thread.

Some of us want Gaza to be free of Israel. France is already proposing to accept Palestine as a legitimate and independent state. I think at least 200 British MPs have written a letter asking for the same. Keir has ignored it for now and Trump is here. But it's just a matter of time.

Many members of this forum, are able to keep their emotions in check and debate without getting personal. They are also able to separate fact from fiction, and not take everything at face value

Sensible as ever, @Dangermoo

Unfortunately I've never felt this is an especially good place to discuss the matter because the competition as to who's most upset/distraught/tearful rapidly takes over from consideration of some very complex issues

Strange, too, that atrocities elsewhere never attract the same attention, but there you go

Atrocities elsewhere are condemned by our government and by the international community, so no-one has to rile-up against unreasonable arguments.
No where else gets away with what Israel does and still has such a strong core of support saying "it's ok, it's their right to do this". Most countries and their press condemned Russia and the Taliban and Assad etc. No one on Mumsnet comes on and says that the Western media are making it up, it's not so bad, they actually deserve it for the Ukrainian people or the civilians in Afghanistan or Syria. It's only Israel that can never be criticised under any circumstances and every single one of them is a walking angel with pristine morals and no flaws unlike everyone in Gaza who is basically a liar. Even the neonates are crisis actors etc
