BIL paid us a visit yesterday - it was planned and OH was quite looking forward to catching up with his brother.

BIL arrived, said hello and instantly started talking about himself, his wife and their precious daughter. There he is banging on for around 2 hours and NOT once did he ask how DH was despite knowing full well that he had been quite poorly recently.

I was left feeling quite hurt to be honest - we have been there for all three of them on countless occasions over the years and he couldn’t even be arsed to ask after his own brother. Rant over but wondered what MN would make of this?

You really do find out who cares for you when your ill, I'm sorry your dh has had to find out.
When I became permanently disabled my siblings disappeared (not seen in years) because i was always the people pleasing, helper who babysat, helped move house, made meals, took them on day trips/holidays and when I was no longer able to they disappeared.
At least dh can now decide how much effort (or not) to put into this relationship.

Your brother should meet my sister, they would get on well
