My DS 25, this is a really random question but just wondered if you have sons around the same age how often do they get ill?

Our son is 23 and gets sick I’d say three-four times a year.

TickyandTacky · 23/07/2025 21:35

Sick with what? Maybe a couple of colds in the winter, but sick bugs? Less than once a year.

CharSiu · 23/07/2025 21:52

Never had a sickness bug, he is rarely ill, in the last 2 years he had covid, very mildly the rest of us felt quite rough. He had a slight cold about 3 months ago.

BeetyAxe · 23/07/2025 21:52

Maybe once a year, very rarely at all.

candycane222 · 23/07/2025 21:56

Quite often gets colds etc - every couple of months probably . I did at that age too. Slightly phlegmy from a child combined with too much partying and not enough sleep I suspect explains it in both mother and son 🕺💃🍻

SemmaLina · 23/07/2025 22:01

He gets a cold every now and then ,but works from home and gets on with it ( he’s 30 now )
Was hospitalised with a bad asthma attack about 6 years ago , I had to rush off to stay with him as he would not have been allowed out of hospital with no other adult to be there the first night , his GF had just landed her dream job and was away training

I have 2 DS 25 & 23 and they are never ill. They take after their father who has never been ill in the 30 years we have been married. Me on the other hand!!

gotellsomeone · 23/07/2025 22:09

Completely depends on lifestyle, I’m assuming he gets Ill a lot for you to be asking?

is he dating? Going out drinking often? Eating proper meals? Proper hygiene? Sleep?

I have two sons, 27 and 24. Older son almost never ill, can’t remember the last time he was off work – possibly a year to 18 months ago with a throat infection? Younger is an intensive care nurse and I think has had one two-day period off work in the past 18 months. That was probably just a cold really, but he has to be careful because of the environment in which he works.

My sons range in age from 24 to 34. They are rarely ill, they get the odd cold/virus but it's very infrequent.

NattyFox · 23/07/2025 23:42

I don't have an adult son yet but when my dh was 25 our son was a toddler in nursery, so that would have massively influenced how often we were ill.
Whether your son is ill too often for his age will depend on so many other factors like job and lifestyle.

Youngest doing his masters worked crazy hours to finish his projects, wasn't eating properly. Was on the train three days a week. When it was all over he relaxed and came down with COVID. Was really poorly.

The other two older with children catch everything that the children bring home.

Got two DSs in their twenties (and two DDs in their twenties too).
My sons are very rarely ill. One gets the occasional migraine. They maybe get a cold once a year.
