To think the Euros should have the best refs?

Great tournament so far, very exciting and some great games. How England keep getting through is amazing. However, why aren’t top refs/linespeople officiating this?

Always the same at major tournaments. The best refs will be those from countries where they are professional like England, Italy, Germany etc. But instead of having half a dozen refs from those countries they have one ref from loads of different countries hence why there will be someone from Nigeria or Bulgaria at the tournament.

The top women referees & assistants are officiating and they are doing a good job. I have been impressed by both the standard of refereeing in this tournament, and by the respect the players are showing for their decisions. Watch & learn, chaps.

I think the refereeing has been pretty good.

It always amazes me how few decisions they really get wrong. It must be so hard running backwards and forwards and also not always seeing the game from the best vantage point. I guess proximity helps.

Not so impressed with Englands football though, with the exception of a couple of players. I hope they manage to up their game for the final.

Are men not good enough to officiate this or is it deemed that the matches aren’t worthy of them?

I think if you are good enough it doesn’t matter what sex/gender you are.

It seems odd that females officiate men’s games but I haven’t seen a male in this tournament

Are they the best and most competent officials available? If so I hope they are involved in the PL next year!

Totally agree, I think they make less mistakes than the players and managers but always seem to get the blame for a team losing!
