Navigating perimenopause

I’m 41 and found the whole thing a bit puzzling. I’m on HRT but I don’t feel old, but knowing I have to now take it for the foreseeable future makes me feel like I’m 50 (there’s nothing wrong with that BTW).

I started taking HRT because of dy skin and weight gain, but in reality it’s more around the “psychological” effect

How do you deal with it?

Hi CVVfan,

Just following this tread as 37 and think I'm starting in peri (no kids of my own so a bit depressed at the prospect!). Was it quite straightforward getting prescribed HRT?

It was and it wasn’t!

things that helped:

I’m already iron deficient and hypothyroid so they couldn’t blame it on that.

The hard bit was that they misdiagnosed my skin problems as three different things (and I suffered for like 18 months!) but once I noticed my cycles becoming shorter and that my skin problems were better managed by actual moisturiser/lube than with cortisone, it was obvious I was perimenopausal, and the GP agreed.
