Ingrown hair.

Hold a wrung out hot flannel on it and gently scrape the top with a sterilised needle and you should be able to fish out the gunk and if you’re lucky a hair will spring out.

Never had one myself but once got caught down a YouTube wormhole and there were tons of videos exactly like this!

I suggest that you make an appointment with your GP practice, rather than ask random persons o the internet.

Minecroft · 22/07/2025 22:11

She has been to GP!

ShesTheAlbatross · 22/07/2025 22:13

Sorry, you’ve not had a jab in a few years, and this is a new bump, and the GP said it was a reaction to a jab? Did you query that?

CB1988 · 24/07/2025 09:51

@SaintGermain do you not think it would be red and sore if ingrown ?!
@ShesTheAlbatross why are you sorry?

For the update. The arm is my husbands. And the gp said a few things it could be..and confirmed it wasnt skin cancer which was my concern.

Dermatofibroma? Can be a reaction to a bite or similar.
I have had two. One disappeared after a few months. The other has been there for years.
Do keep an eye on it though and if it changes at all (ie bigger or darker) go back to your gp.
Probably all is fine, don’t worry but do be vigilant.
Speaking as someone with melanoma but don’t let that freak you out.
Edited to add: gps are not dermatologists. They can and do miss skin cancer. I speak from personal experience.

@CB1988the videos of ingrowing hairs I have seen look like a lump under the skin that has a greyish tinge just like your photo shows.

However, they are all women and presumably as a result of hair removal and new hair growing back and getting trapped under the skin as it grows in a different direction.

As it’s your husband, I don’t know if men would have that problem.

CB1988 · 24/07/2025 11:01

Completely agree. My sister was told she had skin cancer which turned out to be nothing .

Tbh I said to him this morning to go get checked by another gp. If it was on me. I would not let it settle until I knew what it was .
