Have I done something wrong here - second guessing myself because I’ve had my license for under a year.
Turned in to a residential road, parked cars on my left squeezed in tightly, not leaving much space. There was an oncoming car from the other side, so I stop to let them go as their side is clear. If I really put my foot down, I could have snuck in front of them but I have two kids in the car so Im not chancing it and rather be safe so I wait.
A massive Audi behind me starts beeping at me to make me sneak in front. I ignore him, he keeps beeping me. I look in my mirrors and he is fully in the street, so the back of his car is not in the road we turned in from, there is no reason (unless someone can tell me otherwise) for him to be rushing me, other than impatience. And genuinely, we are taking about 20 seconds here.
Once the road is clear, I move (24mph in a 30) and because he was so close up my behind, he speeds up and cuts me up to overtake me but swings in right by the front of my car so I had to slam my breaks on because he was an inch away from my car. He was so impatient, had to overtake me on a residential road, full of parked cars and pedestrians. Immediately after there was a crossroads and he didn’t even slow to check if anything was coming from the other directions.
Anyways. I’m ready for being slammed for the length at which I’ve had my license, and the general dislike towards slower drivers (and I don’t mean doing 8 in a 30, just being more cautious) but it did really startle me at the time and I guess I just need a sense check.
YABU - you should’ve put your foot down and cut up the other car
YANBU - you got bullied by a massive SUV
