True OP, very true. Why? Because everybody weighs up the pros and cons of a principled stand - and if the personal cost is too high, they choose not to take it. Human nature, innit.

My pet hate is people who don’t have the courage of their convictions.

The kind of person who follows you out of a difficult meeting and say “you were absolutely right” but failed to provide their support at the time.
