A thread for us to all congregate for us who dont want to go to work tomorrow and have sunday blues

OP posts:
MrsRuthFisher · 20/07/2025 20:06

I'm sorry, but I've just finished my working week as I work Weds-Sun... So this is my Friday 😁
If it helps though, I do have to suffer through all the 'thank god it's Friday/have a great weekend' stuff on an ACTUAL Friday!

cheesy31 · 20/07/2025 20:17

just dont want to go to work tomorrow

Do you hate your job? Or is it just Sunday scaries?

MyDadWasAnArse · 20/07/2025 20:37

It's like when Heartbeat came on the telly as a kid you knew the weekend was over and school was looming.

Britneyfan · 20/07/2025 20:38

I feel the same way, have had this for years and years now but it’s been getting worse. I have a real sense of impending doom on a Sunday and a constant awareness of a clock ticking down my last moments of freedom kind of thing.

Takemybrainaway · 20/07/2025 20:44

I’m close to that. My colleagues and managers are great but the work itself is getting me down. I’m job hunting but have no confidence at all.

I absolutely remember this being a sign that the weekend was over 🤣. That and Last of the Summer Wine! And a bit of Antiques Roadshow thrown in for good measure too!

Oh God, Antiques Roadshow still makes me sick in the pit of my stomach.

I wouldn't mind but I don't even work on Mondays and I love my job!

Think it's a throwback from when I was at school.

SallyD00lally · 20/07/2025 21:38

And some sort of religious programme, was it 'Stars on Sunday' or something?

JudgeBread · 20/07/2025 21:43

First reply: I dOn'T wOrK mOnDaYs!!!

Typical fucking Mumsnet.

RandomMess · 20/07/2025 21:43

I hate my job and boss, hate Sunday evenings these days.

tryingtobesogood · 20/07/2025 21:46

Me 100%. I have the Sunday scares so badly. And what’s annoying is that I worked so hard to get the job that I have now, retrained took chances and now that I’ve got it I realised that it’s just a job like any other one.
I said to my husband this evening if you told me I never had to go back to work again, I would be really happy. I think I’m just done, tired and burnt out from decades of striving and pushing to succeed, to find that it’s it’s just the same meat different gravy.

Not helped at all by DH putting the antiques Roadshow on earlier

mumofsixfluffs · 20/07/2025 21:49

I used to feel like this about one place I worked. I accepted the job there when I’d been made redundant and as a single parent needed that income. I hated it from day one and lasted a smudge over two years as I wasn’t about to jump into just any other job. But each Sunday was horrible as that was the day I got to sleep
in as kids were with their dad but meant the next day was back at that place.

Songs of Praise?

cheesy31 · 20/07/2025 21:58

Trying to retire early but its difficult

OP posts:
AbzMoz · 20/07/2025 22:03

I’ve been a victim of Sunday scaries since school. I actually quite like my current job (after years of loathing) but it just always feels like Sunday is the precipice of a long slog…
Good luck all!

SallyD00lally · 20/07/2025 22:16

Elsvieta · 20/07/2025 21:50

Songs of Praise?

OMG yes that was it!

The theme tune made me want to puke.

ThePlatypusAlwaysTriumphs · 20/07/2025 22:20

I generally feel totally miserable on Monday mornings, but bank holiday in Glasgow tomorrow, so day off!!

lolacherricoke · 20/07/2025 22:20

Teacher with 6 weeks off!! No Sunday blues here x

mrsfollowill · 20/07/2025 22:31

Normally right there with you - hate Sunday nights but I'm off on annual leave tomorrow-just changed my alarm so it does not go off at 6.30 am. Off for a city break for a few days so lie in tomorrow going away Tues am! Really I could work tomorrow thought about cancelling and working briefly but nope I just don't want to so fuck it! When I was a kid Antiques Roadshow and Songs of Praise ruined Sunday nights for me- and Last of the Summer Wine- so depressing 😂

PickledMuffin · 20/07/2025 22:32

With you @cheesy31 stay strong 💪

TheChosenTwo · 20/07/2025 22:38

Sundays have been my favourite day for years BUT I hated them as a child and feel so strongly about the programmes mentioned for their association of bedtime which then followed into school.
I do work on Mondays, from home, and it’s a lovely way to start the week and to ease my way in. I do enjoy my job which helps but also I refuse to let 50% of my weekend be ruined by the next day.
