THREADWORM I'm going insane!

Found child had threadworms 3 days ago, still could see a worm lastnight (day 2) everyone treated. Shower morning and night, their clothing/pj's pants washed daily, they are wearing pants for bed also. Childs towels and what i use to wash body with washed daily. Bedding changed every other day, and wiping round bedroom (theirs not mine, do i need to change my or will it be ok, hasn't been on my bed since first clean) hoover bed and carpets everyday. Using vaseline on their bottom and sudocrem. Blitzed the house after first treatment, washed settee throws, cushions. Cleaned bathroom and kitchen surfaces (daily). Wiped stairs bannister. Cleaning the toilet after every use and handwashing like crazy. But have I done enough? I feel like I'm going insane and now I've seen things about toothbrushes, I did soak in hot water after initially finding out but now I've seen about replacing but that wouldn't be cheap (oral b). Its driving me insane honestly and I don't know what to do with myself! Some positive outcomes would be great to hear.

Are you taking Ovex too? You need to kill the source

upandleftthenright · 19/07/2025 16:13

Sorry, to explain more as you say treated. You often need to repeat the dose I find so can take two weeks to fully kill everything off

I think you’re being a bit overzealous here. Why would the whole toothbrush (which I assume is what you mean as you mention it would be expensive) need replacing? I don’t think any of it needs replacing, but if you’re worried, can’t you just replace the head, like you would fairly regularly anyway?

MysteryNameChange · 19/07/2025 16:14

I have never bothered with all that stuff and just given everyone a dose of Ovex followed by another one in two weeks.

Monster6 · 19/07/2025 16:18

Ovex works. 2 doses, a fortnight apart. Up the handwashing. Clean beds and shower bins in the morning…it’s important to do the morning showers. Do this for a week as well as a generally more stringent cleaning routine and it’ll be grand. Till the next time…(half kidding op) but if you’ve got young kids chances are you’ll get them, perhaps repeatedly

Shower bums that should read!!!

Whoowhoopitstbesoundofthedapolice · 19/07/2025 16:24

Been there and as long and you are diligent in cleaning/shower and taking the meds they will go...just takes some time and also once youve seen them you watch for them.

I would definitely wash and change the bedding everyday but that's just me. Also use the tumble dryer as well.

AlertEagle · 08/08/2025 21:36

You should wash towels after each use

Me too.

I used to shower DD’s bum in the morning to wipe any off with wipes that l then bagged up. But that was it.
