Thoughts on the below...

Oops title meant to say male not makes!

My little one goes to an after school club and they've recently hired an 18 year old male to join the staff. I've not batted an eyelid but some parents aren't happy about it. Makes me so mad as no one would care if it was a girl 😅 surely we should be encouraging men into this profession as having to care for children is part of being a dad in their future?! Really angers me the amount of times I'm told how lucky it is my husband is so 'hands on'. No he's just being a parent doing what I'm doing 🫠 no such thing as a 'working dad' either, don't get me started on that...

Have those parents articulated what they're not happy about?

Does the school not have any male teachers ?

When my children went to after school club there was an 18 year old male. He went to 6th form then worked there after school. I never heard anyone complain. He was a good role model, especially for the boys as they could relate to him.

There was a lad of a similar age at dd’s school. I think she was y1 at the time. He worked for a year there, then came back a few years later. As a teacher.

Some parents, I think, have nothing better to do.
