AIBU to think children shouldn't be naked waist down at Legoland Safari splash?

Enjoying a lovely time at the splash safari at Legoland Windsor and people are letting their children go completely naked running around bending over etc, yes they're having fun but I think it's inappropriate here considering the amount of people around.... Maybe I'm a prude, but from a safety perspective, and for other children too,, I don't know, maybe it's not an issue but I don't like it and think the staff should have done something

I inow that some countries are more liberal about nudism, at any age, but with pretty much everyone owning phones with cameras these days I think it's taking a stupid and unnecessary risk.

Oh come on you're being ridiculous, they're practically babies then

Which pedos love to perv over.
No chance I would allow my child’s genitalia be wank fodder for a perv.

This.
I've worked with paedophiles and the number that have their own children is frankly terrifying. It would take seconds to snatch a quick photo of someone else's child.

Maybe phones/cameras could be banned so little kids can enjoy running round naked.

And how are you going to achieve that?

Im surprised Legoland actually allow naked children on their park. No public pool would allow it.
Im also slightly surprised they haven't clocked a way of making money by selling overpriced kids swimwear.

So you are sexualising young children.

Someone always pipes up with this.

It’s a fact that paedophiles frequent places where there are children. I certainly wouldn’t want my DC to be running around naked in front of strangers who do sexualise children, take photos to use for “use” later or send to other paedophiles.

Well I suppose you make it a rule, if people bring them they have to go in some sort of locker. If people sneak them in and are caught they have to leave with no refund.

We can't let phones and cameras rule out lives, although for a lot of people they seem to.

They aren't allowed at my local leisure centre and it works.

xWildFlowerx · 18/07/2025 13:55

YANBU, I see 0 need for it personally. Surely it's much less comfortable going down slides/whatever naked than with at least pants on?

Also younger children are likely to have accidents which then makes it unhygienic for all other users, so I especially don't understand why a child would ever be naked if they're not potty trained. Wearing a swimming nappy is the only logical option.

And also pedoes. Yeah, kids may be more likely to be abused by a family member but I don't see any benefit in giving a stranger paedo something to look at either. Personally I've taught my kids that removing pants in public is always wrong for their safety. Saying that paedos can also wank over children with clothes on is stupid because they're clearly not the same thing.

CrispieCake · 18/07/2025 14:28

I agree with you, OP. It's nothing to do with sexualising young children, it's just not appropriate in public locations.

At our local splash park, the park wardens will speak to parents whose young children are running about without at least "bottoms" on (even just a pair of pants) and ask them to put something on them. If we're not planning on getting wet but come across a fountain or splash park, I will let mine run about in pants and then they go commando on the way home. The only place they're ever completely naked is the back garden (only overlooked by two upstairs windows of neighbouring houses) and even there I've had to tell the older one fgs don't climb the fence unless you're at least wearing shorts 😂.

bellamorgan · 18/07/2025 14:34

I wouldn’t have let my children run around anywhere public naked. There is just zero need and I’m surprised Lego land are allowing it.

You just never know who’s lurking. Camera or not the person if that way inclined has seen what they wanted.

Hankunamatata · 18/07/2025 14:37

Parents probably didn't have swim things and kids seperate to go in. Can't get worked up about naked 2 year old

Dramatic · 18/07/2025 14:40

I'd never let my kids be naked in public, I don't care how old they are.

But why can’t they go in in pants / nappy whatever . They may only be 2 but aside from the privacy issue you also have the hygiene with untrained toddlers potentially pooing .

Strange thing to say, there's loads of pervs around, but you know that.

whats your problem? I’m giving my opinion and no I don’t get what the issue is

People like you are the issue. You know pedophiles are people who are attracted to children who haven’t yet gone through puberty?

Exactly there is a hygiene issue too.

Thefaceofboe · 18/07/2025 18:18

This thread and another on here today has knocked me sick. What is wrong with people? Pathetic excuse for parents

Rosesanddaffs · 18/07/2025 15:37

You really don’t get the issue?

In a busy public place an infant or young child can’t consent to their naked body being on display for anyone let alone perverts to have a gander at. Even worse than ever in today’s world they can take photos in an instant without being noticed.

All parents have changed a bum on the grass or whipped a toddler behind a bush for a pee. Fine. In the gardens of families and friends my 3 year old and his little friends aged 1-7 all frolic about naked or half naked in paddling pools. Again, fine.

But at a bloody theme park? Parents letting their children run around with no bottoms on?

You know this is wrong and you are absolutely at it. If you genuinely don’t get it, you need to have a long hard think about it.

cc99xo · 18/07/2025 18:31

YANBU. I would never, ever have my child naked in public. You don’t know what creeps are about taking pictures etc.

SharkBaitOooHaha · 18/07/2025 19:36

This should be fine buts it’s not because it’s not safe. Every adult walking past probably has a camera phone and nobody walks around with nonce tattooed across their forehead.

How bizarre to eye roll at a post suggesting the op shouldn’t sexualise young children.

How bizarre to accuse the OP of sexualising children when they were raising a potential safeguarding concern on a parenting forum

We can't let phones and cameras rule out lives, although for a lot of people they seem to.

They aren't allowed at my local leisure centre and it works.

If you read the website there already is a rule that everyone must have “swimwear” on and younger children need swim nappies. But it gets ignored.

And let’s face it banning phones would be impossible. Firstly a lot of people would just refuse as it’s “their right” or some crap. Others would lie and say they don’t have one. How will you prove it? Search them? Others will say they need it for emergencies. Sick family member so need to be contactable etc. Then you’ll get discrimination claims.

It’s also already illegal to be a peadophile. I don’t think the risk of “being removed without a refund” will exactly stop them when the risk of prison does not.

You also have no idea if anyone has ever snuck a phone into your leisure centre. You aren’t there all the time. I doubt you watch every single person religiously when you are there. Honestly if someone wants to they will. I agree the rules should be no phones and swimwear on everyone. And they should be enforced. But as with every other illegal activity in life those that want to will still do it.
