Found more of your 'granny pants' WTAF??

For context i'm 46, short and until recently was a size 14 (i've lost a bit). When I was pregnant 5 years ago I bought some lovely pants. Yes, I know it's 5 years ago but they're colourful, a good make and don't cut into me. They cover my whole bum. Nowt wrong with that imo - I'm not going back to wearing thongs or uncomfortable pants - especially when it's hot. DP was going through the washing and handed me some of my clean washing and said 'here are your granny pants'. WTAF? His boxers have got holes in them with the elastic gone - and before anyone says it, he has new ones but refuses to throw the old ones out as he'll wear them in bed, great as contraception as they're awful! AIBU to be annoyed by this as he knows I'm sensitive about my weight? He's a skinny waif and struggles to put weight on where I'm still struggling with my apron from pregnancies. Should I just get rid of his clothes when he's out?!

Just say to him that you will wear his holey gusset airing pants instead as they are clearly too good to throw out. Wear a mask of Jackson Lamb from Slow Horses too to make a point.

Aw it’s the pants not you he was referring to.

I had to get my mum to buy me the said granny pants when i ended up with an emcs. I’m usually a size 8 she got me a size 12 so they wouldn’t cut in to my wound. My youngest is 5 and I still wear them 🤣 they are so comfy. If my DH called them granny pants I wouldn’t mind coz that’s what they are lol. I haven’t bought any more of them but I wld consider it when they are done.

As if men would wear something uncomfortable! I usually wear Brazilian style or seamless pants now. I don’t think I’d ever wear thongs again.

I’m 32, and love my granny pants.
I’ve used them since DD was born in October, last year. Wouldn’t ever dream of swapping back to post baby knicks, now. I’ve replaced my entire knicker drawer with full briefs, and I’m never looking back! My partner always comments on them, but I don’t care. Comfort over style, any day! 👌🏻

BonneMaman77 · 17/07/2025 18:57

I bought myself some granny pants and non-underwired bras and I’ve never been more comfortable! Well may be since I was 20 and a size 6 with no boobs.

I’d tell myself that he was referring to larger coverage and not size and leave it at that.

Waitingfordoggo · 17/07/2025 19:08

Like pretty much everyone else on the thread, I’ve been wearing ‘granny pants’ aka apple catchers since I had my children, who are now young adults. Once you’ve made the switch, no one seems to want to go back.

Luckily my DH never comments on my pants (unless I’ve put on a special pair for seduction purposes, but I don’t really go in for much seducing these days 😂)

My husband has names for all my granny pants !!
Yellow ones are custard creams ,the stripy blue ones are hello sailors ,pink raspberry berets ….etc we laugh our heads off when I get undressed and he sees them and shouts out their names

stayathomer · 17/07/2025 19:09

Everyone calls full pants granny pants!!!

Rocksintheriver · 17/07/2025 19:24

I don’t think it’s about your weight. I’m size 6-8, but converted to full briefs during my pregnancies. I’ve never gone back! My husband calls them granny pants. It’s just the style of pants I think.

Bea372 · 17/07/2025 19:37

I wear M and S bikini briefs, they properly cover your bum but don't come up to your armpits. I can't believe anyone under 60 wears granny pants tbh! But then I think thongs are hideous too.

BeenzManeenz · 17/07/2025 21:03

Sounds like a joke to me, you're being over sensitive. I'd probably just take the piss out of him for his rank pants, and leave it at that.

Your weight wasn't even mentioned from what I can see.

Heaviestdirtyestsoul · 17/07/2025 21:07

They aren't granny pants, they're harvest festival pants because ALL IS GATHERED SAFELY IN!
I love my massive knickers!

theunbreakablecleopatrajones · 17/07/2025 21:10

Nothing wrong with a pair of granny pants, wear them with pride.

You can pass him his holy pants next time, ideally with a prayer gesture. Or just scream when you next see him in them.

But mainly I want to know why is he wearing pants in bed??!!

This is so cute!

Life's too short for uncomfy grundies. Who cares about his little digs? Carry on as you were

I LOVE THIS.
Gonna start using that to describe mine, cos they really do hold everything in them. My lovely c section pouch is nestled comfortably in mine 😂

7catsisnotenough · 17/07/2025 22:10

@GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHERsometimes style and lack of substance is required 😉 Day to day, bring on the belly warmers 🤣

IlovePhilMitchell · 17/07/2025 09:32

erm hello twin 🤣🤣🤣 I could have written this myself.

I bought some big pants during pregnancy and said “I’ll stop wearing these once I’ve had the baby”

5 years later I still buy the same ones albeit 1 size smaller.

Edited

Ha! I still wear my nursing bras and my daughter is 9 😂

No, before anyone asks, I’m not still breastfeeding- they’re just comfortable and don’t dig in - also useful during sex, you can just unhook the cup instead of taking the whole thing off if you’re in a hurry 😁

Janie143 · 30/07/2025 14:15

My DP calls my big knickers harvest festivals (all is safely gathered in) or apple catchers. I think it's funny and couldn't care less
